So who gets the job DC

I think the D has been fantastic. I think Howe gets a more lucrative gig after this year. My sentimental favorite is Jody . Is he ready. All this could change if Vigen moves.

Probably depends if Vigen also gets a lucrative offer and if so, which coaches he takes with him. Owens would be the obvious choice to replace Howe although I'd also be fine hiring from the outside like they did with the OC position.

Sure, but it also opens up the discussion of how good we think the defense is. With the quality guys we lost, I thought they might take a step backwards . I think they are actually playing better, not getting the sacks, but playing better as a team .

Whenever you are successful at this level, it is an obvious issue.

Vigen doesn't seem that excited to move on. Maybe it's his kid, maybe he wants to win a natty first, maybe he saw how things went for Booby at UNLV or Bohl at Wyoming or (snicker) Jeff Choate at Nevada.

To answer the OP: Vigen has a deep deep Rolodex (or whatever the equivalent is for the digital age) and hes proven himself to be elite at developing in-house talent. Whoever it is, I hope he continues the upward trajectory & keeps proving that MSU is a stepping stone to REALLY good OC/DC jobs at the next level.

‘REALLY good’? Temple and whatever podunk Daly went to. So, who am I missing that’s gone onto really good OC/DC jobs?

That's why I worded it as more lucrative. I'm not sure if I bleed blue or gold, which makes me actually think that there isn't a "better"job

So last year Vigen wouldn't take the WSU job due to going to the Natty. Just need the Cats to go to the Natty again this year and problem solved. \:D/

Vigen will be on the short list for every G6 job in the Mountain and Pacific time zones and Plough will likely be on the longer list for all those jobs. These tweets write themselves at this point. This guy doesn't know anything special, he just knows who the top FCS coaches are on this side of the country.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

The only currently open position that I’d accept Vigen leaving for is Penn State.

I suppose if Vigen wants to coach into the FBS he will look into OSU, but who would want to go to a school that was left hanging when everyone else went to the Big 10 and ACC. I wonder if Rogers wonders how long WSU will wait until they become relevant?

The new Pac-12 will be a great level of competition for them, it will instantly become the preeminent western US conference once it starts up next year. Under the current playoff format the Pac-12 champion will have a great chance to make the playoffs as one of the five best conference champs. I think OSU might be a more desirable job now than it has been in the past where they were competing directly with Oregon and their essentially unlimited Nike money up the road.

Ha! I kinda liked Oklahoma State when I lived in Tulsa. That jobs open too. But boy has Gundy let that program collapse. Since he left a couple weeks ago, six kids have already entered the portal…..and rumors that another 30 are talking about it. Interim coach in place but things are a mess. I believe the current QB was a WR at start of season but injuries have devastated the position….not sure when they get a regular QB back.

Temple is 3-3. They will finish with at least the same number of wins or more compared to the previous 5 seasons.
