Big Sky Conference week 1

Post by Prodigal Cat » Wed Sep 24, 2025 10:51 am

Ok, no more trying to parse how good teams are that played a D2 versus a Big 10 opponents. Time for the Cats to go back to back.

Idaho St @ Northern Colorado (+1) Can DA BEARS prove they can snatch a victory instead of losing? Gotta see it first  ISU
NAU @ PSU (+15) I posted preseason that PSU would be the worst team in the BSC. They are. Take the points  NAU
Cal Poly @ Sac St (-9) Have the hornets and no go offense turned a corner or was UCA just bad? Sac wins and covers
Weber @ UC Davis (-11) Weber is still bad and this game is as lopsided as the one in Hillsboro  Davis wins and covers
Idaho @ UM (-6.5) This was a game that preseason I thought the gris could lose. Idaho has looked pretty meh in my opinion. Yes their losses are to FBS but San Jose St wouldn't win the BSC and the WSU game was ugly. They let pioneer league St. Thomas and Utah Tech hang around way worse than Mercyhurst did with the Cats  UM (this opened -13.5 which was UI but its down to less than a TD, now leaning UM)

EWU @ MSU (-18.5) Cats will have a fire lit underneath them after last week and EWU is as bad as they've been in 20+ years. MSU to win and cover (I think Mecryhurst would beat EWU)

Idaho State @ Northern Colorado >>> Northern Colorado
Northern Arizona @ Portland State >>> NAU
Cal Poly @ Sac State>>> Sac State
Weber @ UC Davis >>> UC Davis
Idaho @ UM >>> Idaho
EWU @ MSU>>> MSU but i think this is way more close than we like. EWU seems to always play good against us

Idaho State at Northern Colorado - These teams seem evenly matched early on. Have played FBS teams well. I like UNC just because they are tough at home. I'm sure of the ISU stud QBs status and he could flip this game in ISU's favor.

Eastern Washington at Montana State - MSU has played about as poorly as it's capable of (untimely blocked kicks and TOs, allowing lots of 4th down conversions) and that's still pretty good. EWU is near the bottom of nearly every statistical category. I like MSU.

Northern Arizona at Portland State - NAU should win this game easily. PSU seems worse than usual. NAU is looking like a solid playoff team and this will be a good confidence builder for a school that always seems to find ways to lose when it's looking good.

Cal Poly at Sacramento State - SAC appears to be done pouting. They've played well for the last six quarters. CP has improved over a year ago. SAC by a couple TDs. Despite all the hate they've created for themselves, I think if SAC can stay grounded it's going to start clicking.

Weber State at UC Davis - UCD has been the biggest disappointment in the BSC so far. I'm not counting them out but this is a tough game for them to get back on track with. I'm taking WSU, which has looked improved.

Idaho at Montana - UI has looked really good vs FBS teams, but below average vs FCS teams. No idea about UM yet. Since it's a 12-game season, 7 wins might not get you into the playoffs, so UI at 2-2 needs to start stacking wins. I'm taking UM in a close one.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

ISU up 13-0 on UNC in the second quarter. Only 2 first downs for UNC. Cook at QB for ISU but just 5 for 14.

Yeah me too. Didn’t take to long either. I can’t imagine Coach Best is long for Cheney.

Sac State continuing to have trouble with JV opposition, down 18-7 to Cal Poly after one quarter.

Idaho looking anemic on offense. Only down 7 but they are putting a lot on their defense.

Sac state is in grave danger of dropping one to Cal Poly. Credit the Mustangs, they keep making timely plays

Idaho looks very average. Griz look good. Hard to argue against the Montana schools being the best of the BSC.

Idaho got some late garbage time style points but yeah, good chance we meet in Missoula with the Big Sky on the line.

Right now, the 4 best teams in the BSC are clearly MSU, dUMb, NAU and UCD ( in that order). The rest is all a muddled mess of meh. Gonna be a ton of meh records in the middle as a result. EWU and PSU might be the two worst teams in the Big Sky...

ewww u and psu might also contend as “winners” if FCS had a “we suck” bowl game.
