Hard to argue with that. He's the most consistent and electric returning offensive player in the league. However, if Davis, Coon, and others get their carries and Jones sits out a lot of games late, some other player could woo voters, statistically, by season's end.

I truly hope they all do get their carries and stats so they can all stay healthy throughout the year. Kinda surprised Gilman didn't get the nod.

I could see his teammate breathing down his neck for the conference offensive MVP. I fully expect Davis to be a force this season!

If he stays healthy and Julius does too, it’s a minimum semifinal expectation, and after that, Adam might be making $300,000-$500,000 in a Washington Husky or Oregon Duck uniform for the 2026 season.

Based on the media and coaches polls, I thought the same.

From what I’ve heard he is pretty insistent on staying in bozeman, no matter what offers come in (and already have)…..

sure hope we can keep him here for his entire career, has the potential to be an all time great and break a lot of records along the way.

I wonder if the Cats are going to good at rushing again? lol. Best and deepest OL in the conference, if not the country. Same for the RB room. Excellent run blocking TE's that are also threats to catch or run the rock. Most likely the QB will be another excellent running QB. Oh, and pretty good coaches and schemes.....

This right here! A 100% Davis and Jones is a nasty combination. Watching Davis in some of his summer training, he’s putting in the work. Plus, it’s always nice to have an enforcer as a running back. I’m sure he feels like he has some unfinished business, and I sure as hell wouldn’t want to be tackling him.

Davis reminds me of Marshawn Lynch. Beast Mode II.

Jones and Sac State's Jamar Curtis were 2nd team Stats Perform preseason All-Americans, while Gilman is 3rd team, so in Stat's opinion Gilman wasn't in the running (no BSC RB was 1st team). Gilman started off hot last year, but fizzled late. After their bye week (from Oct 26th on), he had 2 games out of 7 with over 40 rushing yards and one was home against PSU, who had one of the worst defenses in the conference. The other was a playoff game vs. Tenn. State. He did add on 50 yards receiving vs. NoCo, giving him a 3rd game out of the last 7 with over 40 yards of TOTAL offense. Gilman averaged 91.4 ypg of total offense, Jones averaged 92.4.... as the 2nd option at RB behind Scottre, with Tommy nipping at his heals for touches.

TLDR: Give me Adam Jones over Gilman all day, e'ry day.

I will say I don’t think Gilman was totally healthy later in the season. He was dancing a lot, trying to get outside, didn’t look like his normal self. Ostmo was more effective, imo. When Gilman was running like he normally does, he’s very, very, good. So is Jones. I don’t really have an issue with voters going either way. I don’t get the love for Curtis at all. He produced worse numbers against worse competition. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Hah, I almost posted the same thing yesterday... Except I think Davis might have more attitude than Marshawn. Wonder if he likes Skittles? :-k

Gilman being injured would help explain away those UNC, CP and UC-Davis games, where he just never got going. The last, 4 he ran well against PSU and TSU, but was stymied by the semifinalist opponents in MSU and SDSU, as one might expect especially playing them on the road.

Curtis actually had better numbers than Gilman and Jones, rushing for more ypg (94.9) than either had total ypg and added another 19.3 ypg receiving, for a total ypg of 114.2, or more than 23.5% higher than both. I do agree that he accumulated those stats against worse competition playing in the Patriot League.

Jones ran for more yards on fewer carries. I know Curtis’ per game stats are better, but Jones was far more efficient while also playing against better talent. Jones also had more receiving yards (by 2) on fewer catches. He was just flat better, statistically.

The best Ifanse could get was SJSU, then Cal. RBs aren’t the thing anymore.

Gilman is very fast. Faster than Jones. I don’t know if he was hurt last year or what but he definitely doesn’t have anything near the offensive line that our backs have. Their OL was better in 2024 than 2023 in terms of run blocking but it was still struggling vs teams that had good run defenses.
