Looks like all the film he tweeted was practice film. So I'm guessing it was apparent this spring he wasn't going to get much playing time.

Same class as Hunter Sharbano and Talon Marsh. Now others are ahead of him like Hudson Weins. Kind of a tweener between end and tackle. Looking for an opportunity to see the field somewhere else.

Not directed at you, but are we supposed to be happy for this player or angry at him?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 8:25 pmSame class as Hunter Sharbano and Talon Marsh. I get confused around portal time because some get well-wishes while others can never step foot in the stadium again.
Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

It’s all a convoluted mess. In my personal opinion, it’s sure hard to get mad at a guy who isn’t gonna play transferring away to get some playing time. I have a hard time blaming guys who transfer away for an absolutely massive bag that’ll change their lives. Lateral moves, like the crew that went to NM and Junior who went to Idaho? That’s the stuff that’s more problematic.PapaG wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:14 amNot directed at you, but are we supposed to be happy for this player or angry at him?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 8:25 pmSame class as Hunter Sharbano and Talon Marsh. MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Players have always left because they didn't have a scholarship, lost it, or were not playing. The difference is they usually had to sit unless dropping down. Wide open now. NIL along with no transfer rules and constant lawsuits to give extra years is a bad combinationJoeCatsJoe wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:21 amIt’s all a convoluted mess. I sense some sarcasm in your question, but imo, a player who dropped on the depth chart and isn't likely to see the field creates a different response than a starter, big time contributor who is chasing more NIL, and also the ones that transfer in conference, who make lateral moves, as was mentioned by another poster. Indifference is probably the correct response, like Tom said.PapaG wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:14 amNot directed at you, but are we supposed to be happy for this player or angry at him?VimSince03 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 8:25 pmSame class as Hunter Sharbano and Talon Marsh. Re: Ryder Trujillo in portal.
I just get bummed because I was really excited about players like Ryder when they were recruited. Between players leaving because they won't see the field or don't want to wait, it just dampens my enthusiasm about recruiting which is one of my favorite things about college ball. I don't really begrudge players living their lives although I don't particularly think many of them are making good decisions. I do follow some of them after they leave and root them on but it doesn't lessen the sting every time that portal window comes.tetoncat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:04 amPlayers have always left because they didn't have a scholarship, lost it, or were not playing. Dude was already the 2nd coach for a group of kids doing the flag football league at MSU. I feel bad for them.

Re: Ryder Trujillo in portal.
This is a transfer that sounds like it was going to happen anyway. In that case the portal probably makes it easier to find a new home — where he will play. It’s also probably good for the team as there is at least an even chance of recruiting a better player. I don’t know how a player can go through all that effort and know he might get to play some his final year, or not. In this case it takes courage to uproot his life and try again. I’ll never fault a guy for wanting to play football. I’d love for every Bobcat to hear the cheers in that Stadium for several years, but way more fall along the wayside than ever become multi-year contributing players — best of luck, Ryder!
