Cool, people here are panicking like the program has been blown up and ruined when according to this they'll be starting at the exact same spot in the polls in 2025 that they did in 2024.

I think we’ll still be good, but we don’t even know who our QB is and rosters won’t be finalized for a long time. I know Haley needs to put content out, but these polls mean nothing at all right now.

Well the bison don't even need to play the game because they've already won it. And the gris got that QB from UCLA so of course they're a shoe in for the natty.RickRund wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:29 pmI am seeing on facelessbook so many are screaming, henny penny the sky is falling...

Guess the Cats should just forfeit now.

Really? Honestly, if the QB. Position was up in the air, I’d imagine we’d be number 2 or 3. I’m not sold on UIW, every year they are hyped, they are the modern day EWU.
Plus Haley is kind of a Dakota homer.

Yawn, pre season rankings mean diddly squat. The gris were predicted to be Big Sky champs in 2024. The Cats were predicted to be a Big Sky champs in 2023. Neither one happened.

Not to mention the gut punch the secondary took.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:31 pmI think we’ll still be good, but we don’t even know who our QB is and rosters won’t be finalized for a long time. I know Haley needs to put content out, but these polls mean nothing at all right now.

Re: Early 2025 Rankings
I’d still put MSU at #2. Vigen has done a great job putting together good teams. People doubted the OL in 2021 and didn’t see msu advancing past quarters. 2022 he got them to semis and won BSC after picked 3rd coaches, 2nd media. 2023’s team was his best until 2024 with Three bizarre losses that are hard to hang on him. One of the best seasons in school and top ten at least in BSC history this year.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Cats were a top 10 team in FCS history prior to the title game.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:40 pmI’d still put MSU at #2. Vigen has done a great job putting together good teams. Its really weird (IMO) to have UIW & USD jump the Cats...seems like its only because they have returning QBs?
And to put the gris that high with all of the question marks & transfers is downright absurd. Pretty disrespectful to Davis too. And I don't see Idaho being remotely in the mix given the transfers out. They (and SDSU) look to be in full rebuild. Playoffs, sure, but Top 8?

Trying to get a team from as many conferences as possible. Plus, trying to get name brand teams as high as possible.onceacat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:50 pmCats were a top 10 team in FCS history prior to the title game.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:40 pmI’d still put MSU at #2. Re: Early 2025 Rankings
Our biggest strength this year was our depth. Count me as one who sees this team reloading. All the reps and extra practice from continued deep playoff runs is so valuable. On top of that, the new IPF will no doubt some give some guys more reps which will lead to more competition. Hopefully we can supplement "weaker" position groups through the spring transfer portal. I like the early ranking and am very excited about where this program is going.

Re: Early 2025 Rankings
Depth was huge. There was no drop off despite three huge injuries all on the defensive side of the ball. Schmidt, Uluilakepa and Dowler were all All-BSC players in the making and Uluilakepa actually made it. That tells you a lot about the program that has been built by MSU.FA_Q_M wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:02 pmOur biggest strength this year was our depth. Count me as one who sees this team reloading. If those three had all jumped in the portal after 2023, I doubt very many people would have had msu in the top three of the BSC preseason polls.

Re: Early 2025 Rankings
UM having 8 home games, the pulls from the portal, throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the NIL coffers, can a championship be bought off the portal?

They'll have a better record than this past season, but likely be a worse team.
