Re: Nevada
The fighting Choates are tied 14-14 at Boise. I seem to remember Nevada spoiling a BSU season a few years ago too. They like to do that.

Re: Nevada
There was a 100% chance that Choate would have Nevada ready to go for this one! They just got screwed out of an INT on a phantom PI call but still made the stop. Doing a nice job of slowing down Jeanty.

Re: Nevada
Doesn't look like they slowed Jeanty down too much. Still had over 200 yards rushing...
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Re: Nevada
Smart move again by Jeff Choate, as I’m sure he’s looking to capture the in-state recruits. There is a lot of good high school football played in Nevada. The warm winter weather in the southern tip (the arrowhead) brings in many off-season skill-building events like big 7-on-7 tournaments, etc. The population of Nevada is 3.26 million, just larger than Iowa and smaller than Utah, so plenty of players to choose from with only two D-1 FBS programs in the state.imacat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 3:09 pmI did not know BJ Robertson was the Recruiting Coordinator.

The major HS state championships are played on the same day at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which is pretty cool. The top divisions use relegation/promotion to help keep competition fair and safe — which is a really great idea in a state with two major cities, but where the rest of the state is rural.
Jeff has basically rebuilt the old Montana State gang from the nutritionist on up. I expect him to be pretty successful if he gets decent administrative support.

Matt Lubick left Nevada for Kansas. Choate’s OC revolving door continues.

Wow, looking at the roster, there are a lot of transfers on the team—and quite a few players making Nevada their third collegiate stop.ClowderUp wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 1:24 pmCan't wait to play those guys.imacat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 12:47 pmMatt Lubick left Nevada for Kansas. Re: Nevada
Nevada is a bad FBS football team. I don’t think they would finish top 5 in the Big Sky. They are undisciplined and don’t seem to have more speed or size than a mid-level FCS program.

Re: Nevada
Would be great if it happened. The FCS would be much better if the remainders of the Mountain West and C-USA just decided to drop to FCS.

He must not be watching the team play. They are certainly going backwards, just not down.

Well, they didn’t exactly win the national championship before he got there.
