WBB vs. Montana

Post by arvcat2 » Sat Feb 18, 2023 12:43 pm

Go Cats! Another big game to keep the rivalry home win streak going and stay on top of the standings ahead of NAU. Hope Beasley has another full court laser pass in her like in Missoula (my favorite play this year).

So far all Cats points are deep in the paint by Kola and Lexi. I like it.

Up by 2 at the half. Have to do a better job of defending the 3.

Fouls abound, and calling seems to be random. The one particular sequence with Diden under the home basket — ugh!! She must gotten fouled six times in a body-slam shot, a rebound, an arm-grab shot.

I don’t know. We look pretty shaky as a team but good individual efforts are keeping us in there. Darian’s three-pointer at the end of the 1st was awesome. She really needs another shot behind that 11 to 8-ft tear drop. Some of those are difficult to “swish” — I’d love to see her go off the backboard.

Kola looks very resolute.

Go. ‘Cats. Go. 💙 💛 😺

How do they look at that and not change possession?

Kola is definitely the "baddest" bear on the court today. Tearing up the gris.

Third quarter, turned up the defense just a notch. The gris started making turnovers. We only had three turnovers until the middle of the third quarter when we made a bunch. 10-pt. lead after 3. Very well done.

Kola is on fire! Nails her second three-pointer right down the pipe. 💙 💛 😺

Sort of an awkward moment when Krista Redpath interrupted Ashley Washburn's feature, but those features shouldn't interfere with the game action. They should be done only during breaks in play, or be very very brief.

Great game by the women....wow...Griz didn't give up....raining three's at the end. That Libby Stump is going to be a problem in the future. Might see a Cat/Griz final in Boise...in a couple of weeks

Now on to the men....Go Cats!

Scary. Need to work on properly burning clock. Left a few too many seconds for them. Never count out a backcourt buzzer beater. Lots of that going around right now.

BIG WIN toward securing the Conference Championship. Enjoy it, ladies. 💙 💛 😺

Great game by Lady Cat seniors. They led like the experienced players they are. That said, Holsinger is building the Lady Griz to be the dominante program and I think the following stat puts an exclamation point on that. Throw in the top rated recruiting class for the 2nd year in a row and the future looks a lot like that past. Colorados top rated recruit, Washington states top rated combo guard, and a top rated point guard from Wisconsin. All chose Brian's program over several power 5 offers. Stump and Konig are top two frosh in the Big SKy this year.

Lady Cat Frosh/Sophs 0

Lady Griz Frosh/Sophs 44

We went for an early dinner and I was keeping track of the score on gamecast. CATS were up I think 14 so I stopped glancing at the score...

Boy. Was I surprised when I saw the score again...

Did not take some opportunities to burn the clock down, and a half court (? TV missed it) buzzer-beater almost closed the gap.

Did anyone see this??? It was posted by Bigskybreakdown on egriz.

“Why would Holsinger grab and try to discipline Kola Bad Bear after the game. Classless. No coach should ever grab a player from another team to scold them. BSC what you gonna do?”
