'Stand Up and Cheer' at MSU Homecoming activities

Make way for Bobcats as hundreds of Montana State University alumni, friends and fans from throughout the country will gather on campus for MSU's 2005 Homecoming, "Stand Up and Cheer," which runs through the weekend.
A free barbeque today at noon in front of Montana Hall will heat up the homecoming activities. At 8 tonight the MSU SPURS will light the "M" on Mt. Baldy and the students in the Hedges residence complex will spell out "Go Cats" on their buildings at 8:30 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 30, is "Blue and Gold Friday."
MSU's annual Career Fair, where hundreds of businesses and organizations come to campus to recruit MSU students, will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in MSU's Strand Union Ballrooms.
The first 100 climbers to get to the "M" on Mount Baldy, beginning at 11 a.m., will receive a T-shirt to commemorate the 2005 Homecoming Hike. MSU President Geoff Gamble will host the President s Homecoming Luncheon and Alumni Awards Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Cost of the luncheon is $18 per person. Cowboy poet Wally McRae of Forsyth and the late Thomas Sparling, founder of the Seattle-headquartered Sparling, the nation's largest electrical engineering and technology-consulting firm, will receive Alumni Achievement Awards. Dorothy Aasheim of Bozeman will receive a Blue and Gold Award.
The Bobcat volleyball team will play the University of Montana at 7 p.m. Friday in Shroyer Gym.
"Paint the Town Blue and Gold," begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Baxter Hotel and continues throughout the night on Main Street in downtown Bozeman.
MSU students will enjoy Midnight Mania beginning at 8 p.m. in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse with a host of homecoming activities including games, tournaments, food and non-alcohol events.
Homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct. 1 begin with a Homecoming Booster Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at The Pour House in downtown Bozeman. Cost is $10 at the door.
The MSU Homecoming Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Bozeman. The Alumni Tailgate Party is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. at the alumni tent on the lawn of Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats face Idaho State University in Big Sky action at 1:35 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. The Homecoming Ambassadors will be crowned at half time, and the Spirit of the West Marching Band will perform.
Several special reunions are taking place this homecoming. The Class of 1965, the last class to graduate from Montana State College, celebrates its 40-year reunion. Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity celebrates 80 years on the MSU campus and Chi Omega sorority celebrates 85 years at MSU.
