It was late into the second half before the team finally silenced a few annoying Carroll fans inside the atmosphere-less Brick tonight. We won 50-36, but in less than convincing fashion. It wasn't that their stuff wasn't working, it's just that the shots would not fall. The Saints, to their credit, were plucky and feeling it for a while. MSU tied it at the half with a Brumwell 30 footer-to cap off a 7-0 run in the final few seconds. We trailed most of the first half.
The second half was better. Defensively they really got after Carroll who only scored 15 points in the period. MSU kind of lurched ahead and finally put it out of reach with a Stockton 3.
A win is better than a loss...that's about it for this one.

Re: WBB vs. Carroll
This game felt like a football game played in the mud. It was an ugly game, but a win is a win. The Cats hit enough big shots to win. Carroll's style must have had a lot to do with that. They've been a pretty strong Frontier team the last few years. Games like this can be a trap. I'd imagine many of the girls on Carroll's squad felt overlooked by MSU and this is their chance to show that they're pretty good. It seemed like the Cats needed to slow down, find a way to get open, and take quality shots.
I don't really have much to add to tonight's summary...it's on to conference time.
