Other State Gov's

Post by Ponycat » Thu Sep 15, 2005 9:57 am

I'm just curios if other Governor's have requested that there states be declared Disaster area's. Schweitzer did and said it was because it was the only way Montana would get reimbursed by the federal government for taking in refugees/victims of Katrina. A day or two after this request the Federal Government decided not to send any refugees to Montana. Too coincidental for my liking.

It seemed awful cold considering Schweitzer is going around talking about how big our state surplus is. Just wondering if any other states did this or if my dislike for Schweitzer is causing me to read to much into things.

The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.

States taking in refugees are declared disaster areas so they can be reimbursed with Federal Funds for the costs of caring for the people - the Gov. did the right thing here.
