Pre-game PDFs

Does anyone else look at the PDF pregame guides that are put out on www.msubobcatscom ? They are pretty cool if you haven't.

They're cool, but have some pretty glaring errors in them... It's hard to tell if all the info is reliable or not sometimes. I notice the stats from the OK State game are actually the stats from last years Adams State game, hehe. I like that result better.

Where did you go on msubobcat to find the pdf?

At http://www.msubobcats.com/ , it is always under the "Bobcat Gamenotes" article. Click on the article about Cal Poly, and at the very top you will see a "PDF Version Available" underneath the date and what not. They have it for all games, but it is easy to miss the little PDF link.

Cal Poly's OL AVERAGES 6'5", 320 lbs!

DL averages 6'3.5", 280 lbs

MSU OL avarages 6'3", 265 lbs, DL averages 6'3" 285 lbs

I am really worried about this game now that i have seen this. They are bigger than us on BOTH sides of the football. Even their receivers are significantly taller than ours (6'3" - 205 lbs)......

SFA's OLine was huge as well and had me a bit scared. That is until I saw that all of the weight their OLine had on them was hanging over their belts. Just a weight figure means very little, how athletic are they with all that size is more important.

Our Oline averages well over 265 (unless they are including a couple tight ends), as well. I'm not sure if that was a typo here or in the pdf -- I seem to remember noticing it in the pdf when I looked through it, though.

I also tend to notice quite a few errors in there when I peruse it, so I'm constantly second-guessing a lot of things to make sure they make sense.

I agree with Kmax, SFA had a BIG OL and it meant nothing. But Cal Poly does like to run the ball.

On our OL being 6'3 265lbs. I think that is wrong. If you add up

RT Hirst 292
RG Fig 276
C Brent 271
LG Bolton 302
LT Jensen 277

It's hard to average 265 when all are above that. A better number is 284 (about 20 pounds heavier).

The 6'3" part is probably true because we have two munchkins in Fig and Brent bringing the height down. Where you need the height at Tackles (with long arms) we are fine.

The only guy I'm worried about on Cal Poly is the DE Chris Cogony? He sounds like a load for anyone (probably an NFL draft pick guy). But having an Atheltic OL will help against him because he will have speed. A slow footed Tackle against him would be a problem. Hirst and Jensen will be fine (possibly not stop him totally) but fine.

I'm telling you guys... those things are fun to look at but hard to trust. It's the same story with the basketball PDFs. They must really be understaffed.

Those weight averages could be the numbers from a game that happened in 2001 for all we know.

I always hate being critical when people are busting thier asses, but there are some pretty major errors every week in those PDFs. Do not consider the info in them as 100% up-to-date.

Maybe it is a nefarious plot to provide misinformation to opposing teams and players? This could be a major stratagem by the intercircle of MSU that we have uncovered!!

With where the 265 came from, back in 2001 Hirst and Jensen were probably 210 pounds and Birkeland was 200. Bolton and Fig were probably 302 and 280. Bolton was probably 302 when he was born.
