Up to this point I at least thought our coach was a tough guy who would scrap until the end. Now, I believe he is mentally defeated. He says "We have lots to play for..." But my sense is he has reached the end... in so many ways. He is a good person and I hope he is removed or removes himself from this job before it totally destroys him.
Yeah, comments like that might fly after losing a close game to a team like ISU, or after losing by 15-20 to a good team, but not after losing by 36 to a last-place team. But then again, I'm not sure what there is to say after that performance last night. Honest words would be something like "we sucked to an indescribable level in that game, and based upon our history, we're likely to suck that badly for the rest of the season, so you might as well get used to it". But I don't suppose he could really say that, could he?
I just talked to a guy that played for Huse at Jamestown. I informed him that he was probably on his way out at MSU. He hadn't really followed Huse. I told him how his teams have had 2nd half tailspins every year and that half his players leave every year. He tries to bring in 5 - 6 JC players to fill the gaps.
He said that is exactly why he left Jamestown...Huse would bring in JC kids every year....what was the point in sticking around.

The quotes he gave after that loss mirror the flavor of what Washington's defensive coordinator said after Baylor destroyed their defense. "We missed a few plays, thy had a good scheme, they made some good blocks" and blah blah blah. When a coach says crap like that, it shows lack of accountability. The guy can't recruit, he can't keep a team together (because they all leave mid-season), and he makes excuses that don't even come close to passing the sniff test. Time to go Huse.

What would you have preferred to hear? "We're god aweful, Idaho sucks as well but we suck worse. I'm a terrible coach with my head up my.....? What do you think was said in the locker room after the game? Having been in huses locker room for 3 years ill guarentee it wasn't pretty. Ever been in a locker room after a game like this? Ever had to address the media? Ya think a struggling team needs to get thrown under the bus by their coach in print?
