Bobcats-Lumberjacks

Post by mt jack » Sun Dec 16, 2012 6:15 pm

It seems the Bobcat faithful here on the internets aren't too pleased with the direction of your men's hoops program. Your big, Mohammed Fall, was ruled ineligible on some ****** technicality by the NCAA, right? I'm expecting a guard heavy offense from the Bobcats. NAU's hurting in the post as well so it should come down to which team's guards have the better game. NAU's been off for 12 days then has three games in five days this week. Cripes.

What should NAU expect from the Bobcats? Thoughts?

MSU is coming off a long break too-for finals.

This team has much better guard play than in the past. They shouldn't completely collapse against a full-court press like they have at NAU in the past.

A little more athletic and quicker than past editions.

Team still can't shoot it worth a darn...but they'll keep putting them up anyway.

Losing Fall was a huge blow. We've got some long and lean bigs, but our tallest guy would rather launch threes.

This team has shown it will be competitive...for a half. Which half we don't know. They haven't put an entire game together, except at home against Portland.

Is NAU back to playing b-ball in the dome or this in the small gym?

Thanks for the info, Belgrade.

Sounds like the two teams are similar...guards dominate on each side. NAU's points will come primarily from Rogers and Russell and will have a hard time finding anyone else willing or able to step up and put the ball in the hoop. If MSU is able to shut down one of NAU's guards then it's advantage Bobcats.

Games this season are in the Skydome. I find this neither a positive nor a negative thing. I hate the place as a basketball venue but it's better than Rolle Activity Center, I guess. I just need to win the powerball a few times to donate some serious dough for NAU to get a real basketball arena.

Games are broadcast on Fox Sports AZ Plus, Fox College Sports, BIg Sky TV (internet) and NAU TV (internet). Lots of viewing options this year for NAU hoops is a welcome change from the past.

Here's Brad Huse's offense:

By the way we're losing to NAU 46-28 at halftime. This is the NAU team that lost pretty much everybody and has a brand new head coach. ](*,)

MSU sucks. I have tried to be positive about MSU's men's basketball program, but they just suck. When will it change?

The Bobcats need to recruit someone from the southside of the tracks to rebound. Ouch. You have some nice athleticism on the wing and at guard but toughness is lacking.

If it makes you feel any better, this isn't the same NAU team I've seen most of this season. They are pushing tempo as they should at elevation.

NAU lost one senior from last year's team, one player was not brought back and two freshmen transferred. They're actually a team filled with mostly freshmen and seniors. Odd mix of young and old.

The Bobcats need to burn it down and start over like NAU did this off season.

The comeback attempt falls short. We lose 87-80.

At some point this season this team will accidently put two good halves together in the same game and they'll get a win over some unlucky opponent. Hopefully it's against the griz. [-o<

Oh by the way...NAU just ended a 15 game conference losing streak. Congrats to them.

Ugh. There's no way this season will be as bad as last. I've grown accustomed to being let down by NAU football but hoops last year was probably the most painful stretch I've ever had as an NAU fan. Effing atrocious puts it nicely.

Hang in there, Bobcat fans. You're not as bad as you think you are and the rest of the Big Sky isn't as good as it thinks. MSU will be in the mix for a playoff bid. Bobcats were the better team in the second half. NAU nearly grasped defeat from the jaws of victory. Bobcats will beat the Jacks in Bozeman.
