Griz logo
UM should consider a new logo. I was just watching ESPN and then ran a little news and notes segment that included UM not going to the WAC. It was just a shot of three school logos with UM's grizzly-walking-toward-you logo. I mean unless you know the school and logo you can't really tell what that is and, frankly, it looks like something not very savory.

Don't be such a Poop. Like I said, I can since I know the school, but when they show it in the background it does resemble a pile of poop and my guess is a lot of people who saw it today probably thought that, too. Just sayin'GrizinWashington wrote:Umm..you can't determine what this is?

Re: Griz logo
Seriously though it probably is hard to come up with a logo of a bear and not have it look too cartoony. I have no good suggestions.

Okay, the one from space looks like a pile of crap. That I'll grant ya. But Tom, do you really think the actual logo looks "cartoony"? And not to make this a Cat vs. Griz thing, but you've gotta admit that the Griz logo looks a hell of a lot more like a real grizzly bear than the Cat logo looks like a Bobcat, no?

Re: Griz logo
The lumbering grizzly could be more fearsome. Look at all the grizzly logos here: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&rlz= ... =&gs_rfai=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Aside from a few that look like a yawning bear, UM's is by far the tamest-looking. Is that Gentle Ben coming my way?
Too bad UM didn't get to the artist that designed Missouri State's logo first. It's even the right colors:

Although the bobcat head lacks depth, it's really growing on me.

It's reminiscent of UNI's panther head logo

and a flat, one- or -two-color logo can be classic

No, no, no, that's not what I'm saying.GrizinWashington wrote:Okay, the one from space looks like a pile of crap. That I'll grant ya. But Tom, do you really think the actual logo looks "cartoony"? The current logo, when you see it up close, does look like a grizzly and when you see it from a distance you can tell it's a grizzly. I wasn't saying that the existing logo is cartoony/cartoonish (do you have this logo on your car doors, you're being awfully defensive

I was saying making any kind of bear logo that looks distinctly like a bear will probably come out very cartoon looking. Kind of like the old Griz logo. The one posted by Not a cat still resembles a pile of poop, which is my point, it's probably difficult to come up with a cool griz/bear logo. Maybe a silhouette style of an entire bear or just the head in a side profile might work .

Certainly has a remarkable similarity to the 10-Couric deucer I took this morning.
