What do you think you’re doing putting portal news on this thread? I thought getting a thread back on topic was illegal. Maybe onceacat can give us a ruling. He seems to be an expert on legal matters.

Yeah, I just put it in that BSC portal players thread too. So many threads with the same basic subject. I don't even know want to do with Frisco related threads.

What the hell are you guys talking about? Tommy does NOT have any eligibility left, end of story. 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024. Four years.

All football players have 5 years to play 4...Tommy has a year of redshirt remaining since he redshirted in the Covid 2020 which doesnt count as a year of anything for anyone.

He 100% no questions asked could play 4 regular season games and the playoffs if he were to choose to come back and make 2025 his redshirt year.

Not even remotely controversial under NCAA rules.

Oh it would be very controversial under NCAA rules. So controversial that he'd probably have to sue to get the NCAA to allow players to use their redshirt AFTER using their four full years. It would be hilarious when he wins that case too.

If such a ‘redshirt’ year were to exist, how would that apply to track and field or other sports that don’t have a defined ‘post season’? Would qualifying for conference, regionals and the national championship count towards the post season for track and field?

My understanding is that the post season exception is only for football. Other sports still have the ‘1 play you burn your redshirt’ rule.

Tuna is a really good back, but I think Wortham was a bigger problem for us, isn't Wortham in the portal too?

Yeah had two seasons and they are separate from one another. You could redshirt indoor and letter outdoor.. but you are compete in one event redshirt blown. I know of some schools that will get an extra year out of an athlete by redshirting for one season but letter them the other, usually depends on which season that team is projected to be strong in.
