That’d be me. I thought it was over. What an incredible showing of mental toughness. Tommy didn’t play amazing for large parts of the game, but man is he a winner. And that was a perfect week 0 game. Exposed some things we needed to work on that home games against terrible teams wouldn’t have shown. Displayed toughness, got a win, and built belief in the locker room.

I have not watched the replay yet so a few questions:

No sacks. That is alarming.
Why was Myles kicking?
A friend said our DB'S looked terrible. True?
Did White play at RB?
Yes.
Don’t know. Haven’t heard why yet just heard ahead of time that Kautzman wasn’t kicking.
Yes they did. Caden had glimpses of plays but wasn’t consistent.
Thought I saw him once or twice but could be mistaken. Don’t remember him with a carry need to check box score.

No defensive pressure by MSU was a cause for concern for me.
Don't know either
Lots of ugly DB penalties early in the game
Yes, I saw White on 1 or 2 carries.

*A bit of an ugly win, but I loved how the Cats hung in there, and the coaches have a good opportunity to coach-up from game film this week.

No sacks isn't really alarming considering the size of their ol. We got decent pressure and we actually held up ok against the run. We weren't getting mauled and we didn't get a huge push. I see them being fine from here on out. Plus their qb was extremely elusive, I don't think we'll see a qb that has this kind of elusivity the rest of the year.

Dbs didn't look terrible. They weren't great but they were in coverage. Cbs weren't getting ran by but a lot if that was because we were bailing out playing a cover 3 concept or cover 4 concept. The time I saw press man we did very well. They drive down hill and made decent open field tackles, from the cb spot. They do need to improve but it wasn't atrocious. Safeties need work. Our tackling angles are off when they don't get a jump on the ball, that screams lack of speed. On deep passes they got lost a couple of times. In one play saw a cb get lost once as well... all correctable. Again not terrible but yeah they need work in the middle of the field

Our passing schemes aren't very good. There's nobody in the middle if the field... you know they are blitzing and all our routes are outside cutting routes. Nothing in the middle of the field for an easy throw
Bobcats haven’t consistently thrown in the middle of the field for over nine years.
That's strange... when you run the ball as much as they do that's where the opening is. Draws up the lb... run your route behind them then stretch the safety vertically. If a team is blitzing you like they are, slants and crossing routes open up... plus it's easier on your qb to their because it's right in front of them. It's literally pitch and catch.
Yeah, it's driven us all nuts.

Lots to clean up but a Bobcat win is always a good day. Hopefully the coaches clean up some play calling. Same complaints with that as last year. Last drive might be an indication of lessons learned…fingers crossed that lesson is learned and remembered

Enjoy the win, the board, and the give and take that makes college football with the Cats so much fun!

Acknowledgment for Adam Jones. With 1:11 left in the game he cut blocks a blitzing linebacker. Keeps his eyes on Tommy, sees Tommy under pressure, jumps up leaks into a weak spot in the zone and catches the ball. Very good play.

There are nits I could pick, but any win in a play-up game is a good win.

Actually I did post during the game. Check page 9 &12. Same theme. It’s ok that you are wrong again in this thread.

Gotcha.... just asking cause I don't know.... does he have similar talent at the skill position? Cause they will definitely be a problem.

Vigen himself said there is a lot to improve. Tommy himself said he needed to clean up mistakes. The offense they tried to run at beginning was not what they were running at end. Online did get better on pass blocks as game went on but that much pressure each game Mellot has as much chance getting hurt as doing 10 designed runs

They play San Jose on Thursday night. Depending on how the NDSU/Buff game is going it’s a game I will definitely watch.

Appreciate the kind words. I love the game of football. I don't use emotions when I talk ball. Just go off what I see. If this is what is like being a cat fan I don't know if I'm cut out for this lololol
