They were there Friday too. I was at the track meet next to the discus/hammer sector, which is very close to the IPF site, and it still looked like the university's junk yard.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 8:09 amNot sure when I'll be down to Bozeman again, so it'd be interesting to see a picture of the IPF site now. There were a lot of "portable" structures (ticket booths, concession booths, etc.) back there that I'd assume need to be moved. Wondering if those are still in there.

Re: Old scoreboard
That place was definitely the catch-all for the university. The frigin dirt for the rodeo arena was stored back there too. I'm sure there was some hand wringing on where they are going to put all that stuff now. The old QBC bus sits near where the new indoor will be located too, so I'm sure that has to go. That might just make a cool party vehicle for someone wanting to purchase it, if it's for sale now.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 8:09 amNot sure when I'll be down to Bozeman again, so it'd be interesting to see a picture of the IPF site now. It's a great project in that it turns an eyesore (it was somewhat hidden) into a bright spot.AFCAT wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:17 amThat place was definitely the catch-all for the university. Are they paving them in their entirety or just the driving lanes?

Imagine how much hotter Gold Rush would have been at the tailgates in 2022 if that was blacktop. I already drank way too much trying to keep cool that day. I'm not complaining though--overall this will be an upgrade! (unless you were used to putting stakes in the ground)

Yeah not sure how we're going to keep our tents from ending up in Livingston.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:29 pmImagine how much hotter Gold Rush would have been at the tailgates in 2022 if that was blacktop. Yes we have been going through many options of weights both homemade and purchased to try and come up with the best way to make sure those windy games the canopy actually stays put.WalkOn79 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:45 pmYeah not sure how we're going to keep our tents from ending up in Livingston.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:29 pmImagine how much hotter Gold Rush would have been at the tailgates in 2022 if that was blacktop. Re: Old scoreboard
Having spent many years as a track coach in Montana, I have seen dozens of EZ Up tents (the heavy duty ones) fly across football fields and over fences. I think lots of weight will be the key, as well as removing the actual canopy when winds really pick up, or when you go in for the game. I'm afraid one of those bad boys is going to blow away and into the stadium. I'm not sure everybody is going to think it through thoroughly.kmax wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 4:13 pmYes we have been going through many options of weights both homemade and purchased to try and come up with the best way to make sure those windy games the canopy actually stays put.WalkOn79 wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:45 pmYeah not sure how we're going to keep our tents from ending up in Livingston.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 3:29 pmImagine how much hotter Gold Rush would have been at the tailgates in 2022 if that was blacktop. I was told the tetrus looking things. They are painting the beams under that side. Every so often they have to do that. Water leaks under that side and rusts the beams. So to prevent it from totally going through they grind it down and repaint it.
Rest In peace dad.

Re: Old scoreboard
I bet coffee cans filled with cement with an eye bolt in the center to tie off each corner would do the trick.

NIL money maybe?

The tailgaters on the north side of Kagy that are on pavement have been doing ok for years. And I don't recall any of them spontaneously combust due to excess heat.
