Of course Bech with another hold on a return. He’s a 2nd-rounder who might be cut in a fair world. He sucks as a pro who was supposed to step into a starting role.
Cam Miller isn’t good, either. CFL talent, but that’s expected from a guy who was splitting snaps in the 2024 playoffs at NDSU.

That’s the conspiracy theory I’m hoping for and could happen.
Not a single Raider WR shined after the first drive with Geno.

Mellott and Bech had similar measurables, but Tommy was better in the 40 and the vertical. Granted, Bech is a more experienced and proven receiver. If you compare Tommy's short shuttle times to Julian Edelman, Edelman's were a notch above. So it's uncertain that Tommy can ever be an Edelman-type slot receiver. I believe that Tommy will be most successful in a gadget role: some returning, some receiving, and some work as short yardage QB where he can run or throw. The Raiders GM talked like he might get that chance, but there's been no rumors of any time at QB. Hopefully it will happen eventually.PapaG wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 10:50 pmHe caught a low ball in the slot over the middle.
Bachman/Bauman (81) is 29 years old and getting every chance to keep disappointing me as a lifelong Raider fan.
I also think Jack Bech was a miss as a second round WR. He gets zero separation on the outside and isn’t quick enough for the slot.

O'Connell is out 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist so that probably secures a roster spot for Cam. Not that he'll be the #2, I would expect the Raiders to look outside the roster for that, but as someone they can continue to develop and at least knows the playbook a little compared to a guy off the street.PapaG wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 10:59 pmOf course Bech with another hold on a return. Re: Tommy to the Raiders
The lack of PT during exhibition games can be looked at two ways. Obviously, if you don't play a lot that usually means the aren't high on you and you're likely to get cut. Conversely, for people in Mellott's situation, it probably just means that they knew he needed time to develop and don't want to waste too much time running him into games when 1) he isn't ready and 2) they need to look at other players.
So, my guess is the latter and I think they have been planning since the first few times they saw him that they were going to continue to try to develop him throughout the season. I don't think LV seriously thinks its going to be a big contender in 2025, so developing promising players this year may be part of the plan. On the other hand, this organization has been one of the worst in football over the last 20-30 years, so who knows?
