Everyone here is entitled to their opinion but you have to take it both ways. I took your "Deliverance", "Hot Hot Hot", "Hillbilly" jokes all week in stride. I've been berated for just being an App fan here. You may call us "classless" and such, but you are no angels yourself. We've had a couple of people come over and dish out stuff which can be considered "classless", but I can count a good number of you who can fall under the same train.
I've tried to remain with class for this week, but I've been tempted to go off a few times. For about half of you, your nothing but negative jerks.
And before someone tells me "Then don't post here", no, because I like posting here and getting to know people that I'd otherwise never know, have intellectual discussions, etc.
So please check yourself and try to be objectionable and open to other ways before showing your hide.
T-Dog, I think you will find that most of our posts here are in response to some of your fans coming onto the board
after the game was over and kind of rubbing it in our faces. Yes, you guys have an outstanding team and you beat us handily. A couple of the posts made by App fans started out as being congratulatory in nature and then later turned negative. We get it - you won, we lost. This has been an extremely emotional, up-and-down year for Cat fans, players, coaches, etc. We just want to lick our wounds and get ready for what promises to be another good season next year. Congratulations on your victory, and good luck against YSU.
No kidding. First of all, this is our board, so expect taunts and jokes about the team we are going against that weekend. Duh! Furthermore, there were as many if not more posts that were well thought out and informative, with good commentary.
Also, don't come onto our board after the game, after beating us, and tell us what sort of bad people we are. Nice manners.
Go bug someone else.

My two cents on the whole experience...
1. The before-game atmosphere was fantastic. We started out tailgating with our friends from ASU and doing a little trash-talking to each other. I'd expect nothing less. Around 2:00, we decided to take the loooooong walk (those of you there know what I mean) up to the MSU alumni tailgate. We were stopped no less than 5 times by ASU fans inviting us to their tailgates and welcoming us to Boone. Everyone was just as cordial as I've seen every time I've been to an ASU game (even though we were decked out in our blue & gold).
2. The MSU alumni tailgate was awesome. Both the wife & I were blown away by the number of people there. Expecting 50, we almost fell over when we saw a couple hundred. Thanks to Kerry for setting up a great tailgate!
3. The during-game atmosphere (other than on the field) was A-OK. We started off on the ASU side, right near the student section. The students were just like at any venue I've been to. For the most part cordial, with a few jackasses thrown into the mix. Same as you'd see anywhere. Had a nice conversation with Dr. Peacock before the game and he was his usual fired-up self. I really like the guy and he's done wonders for the university and their athletic programs. I was not at all surprised to see the first pass in front of the students (with the poster showing 2 nat'l championship trophies), and got a good laugh out of it. Say what you want, but the guy's definitely a fan. The second pass (with the #26 garbage) definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I thought the poster itself was classless. Perfect for a student to have (even a little tame by student standards), but beneath someone with such a high position in the university. I was surprised and disappointed that he didn't nix the poster before starting parade #2. Maybe he did have a few cocktails, after all. I sure hope that it was something like that.
4. The after-game atmosphere sucked. Not because of anything done or said by ASU fans (more than a few people were very complimentary of MSU), but because we were both so incredibly bummed out about the 4th quarter. I had a really, really, really good feeling about the Cats driving down to tie the game. The second I saw Lynch break on the wounded-duck, I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach.
Am I bummed about the way the season ended? Absolutely. Do I think that changes, however small, need to be made in MSU football? Absolutely. Do I think that this is the last time we'll see the Cats in the quarterfinals for years to come? Absolutely not! Bring on 2007!
Go Cats!

You are absolutely clueless and the poorest loser we have played. Does slamming our team and administration ease the pain of your loss? Even our worst rivals, acknowledge the class and spirit of our Chancellor. What a DA you are. Crawl back under your boulder.
You have no clue about class, professionalism, or tact. I'd tell you to go look it up in the dictionary, but I forgot - you're from the holler and probably only have an 8th grade education. Here's to Youngstown State ripping you guys a new one.
So now that you have seen both, do you guys think the Furman or App fans were classier ?
No question. . . Furman fans are WAY more of a class act. I'd take you guys on this board anytime. The fans from CrAppy State are arrogant and self-righteous.
Nice to see Furman fans grabbing some more people for the
App hater bandwagon
hbk999,
There have been plenty of championship teams in the past that strangers embrace and there are those that people don't or even dislike a lot. What creates this difference in perception?
My guess it could be a combination of several factors. A) Is there extracurricular play by the contestants during the match? Or, do they exhibit high levels of sportsmanship? B) How do their fans react to its team's success?
I'm sure there are others possibilities too. Personally, I can take the players on the field talking a little smack with one another better then I can fans who don't handle the success with modesty.
There have been some of my posts with a fairly sharp tongue since the game yesterday that were directed to a few ASU posters. Before the game, I got a real chip on my shoulder toward much of your online fan base due to their attitudes; which seems to really be contributing to the "ASU Haters Club" as many on AGS have about had enough it seems. But, some of you folk have come on and provided good conversation material.
If only there were more of the few of you.
There are some poor App fans, but the way it seems is as if the stereotype perpetuates and quickly becomes some sort of reflection on the whole university or on all of our fans.We have some classless fans like everybody else does, but ask anyone at the game Saturday what they saw. Many of them talked with a bunch of us while tailgating. Many were riding the bus that a few of us got onto and wished all of you goodbye. My whole thing is to just be careful by stereotyping a whole fan base by a vocal minority.

I personally had a great time bantering with the App fans before, during, and after the game. Their tailgaters invited us in to talk and share food and beverages, and others shouted to "welcome" to us. During the game we carried on a steady conversation with a couple of knowledgeable ASU fans. Toward the end, some over-imbibed students behind us started to taunt, so I went up in the middle of them and told them they had a great team, a beautiful University, and should do well in the playoffs. I also said we would like them to come to beautiful Bozeman sometime for a game. I then shook all their hands. All I heard was, "Wow, you guys are class." I never heard another peep out of them.
When the 'Cats came over and shook our hands at the end of the game and thanked us for coming all that way, it was very emotional for me. That's why I like 1 AA football!
