If that's the case, give me a camera or a microphone I'll help out! ;) On second thought it probably better be a camera, I doubt people want to listen to me!

I emailed Bill Lamberty at the Athletic Department and he responded short and sweet :

No TV this weekend.

I think I was the 800th person to ask him that today.

I wonder how long "TV: TBD" will remain on the game article?

Not true this year. Almost every bobcat game was televised on "free" TV, AKA, KFBB in Great Falls, and the other stations affiliated with Max Media. The happened to be on Bresnan, yes, but no different than KPAX and the other Stations who picked up Griz games statewide.
I stand corrected.

Here's the inside scoop from the TV world. It takes a mobile production truck to produce a football game for television. Both of the trucks that have produced all of the broadcasted Cat and Griz games this year (KPAX and RappCom) have entered bids to broadcast the UM vs. McNeese State game. KPAX will offer a boat load of money and should have the inside track to the broadcast rights for the Griz game so expect negotiations with RapCom and Max Media after the Griz bid is announced. Just for the record, it was the RapCom truck that also produced the games this season that aired on Altitude.

There are only two trucks in the entire state?

For what it is worth - Big Sky TV list both UM and MSU games as being available.

Actually there are three trucks. The third is the old Omega truck that is now owned by Carroll College. Compared to the other two it is sub-par.

Over on egriz they were talking about the possibility of the powers that be conspiring to keep the idea out there that there would be no tv for this game, because the AD needs people to show up. The theory was that on Friday there would be the miracle announcement of television for the Cats.

Just a rumor, but it makes sense. Gotta get people to come.

Did you know?

The Cats are undefeated this season in games that were not broadcast on TV within Montana.

The only game that falls into this category is the Cats win over Big 12 foe Colorado.

I got an e-mail back saying that the concern is if it is on TV, ticket sales will suffer. I gues negotiations are still going on....Not an easy weekend to sell tickets to a game....maybe discount them???

Ticket prices are set by NCAA.

The athletic department is in a tough spot on this sort of thing. They need to make a lot of money on ticket sales to cover the cost of the bid (so they can't really discount the tickets -- in fact they are charging a lot more for these than most to draw revenue). At the same time, I'm sure they want as much exposure for this game as possible.

We all know that the pro sports have a mandatory blackout on games that don't sellout in the local market, as when given an option to stay indoors and warm, and not have to pay for it, many will opt to sit on the couch and take in the game as opposed to seeing it in person.

If ticket sales remain as brisk as they reportedly are, perhaps that will provide the assurance that MSU needs that it will come out ahead cost-wise on the game and move forward with plans to televise the game ... or maybe that decision can't be made on that short of notice.

Ultimately, whatever the situation, the solution is the same -- if you can make it to Bozeman for the game, buy a ticket and go! Everything else will sorts itself out from there.

This is BS :bs: this is one of the biggest games for MSU and it will not be on TV.
