cat fans, welcome to our world. We get screwed by every team in this conference, all of whom raise their ticket prices when Montana comes to town. I paid $53 for my ticket in Portland and I had terrible seats at the goal line. A PSU fan told me those seats are normally $11. Same thing at Eastern, where their ticket prices double for the Montana game.
Why do they do this? Because they CAN. Do they offer Econ 101 at MSU? It's supply and demand. Believe me. Those seats could be sold for much more than $50.

i guess that is why msu made us wait at the field house for tickets to go on sale for a specific time period, only the trick is you must be at least several hours early in order to get tixGrizinWashington wrote:cat fans, welcome to our world. Okay, do you really believe this, or do you just want to hear yourself type? Montana has sold nearly 18,000 season tickets this year. It would be impossible to get all of the cat fans into one area without forcing many people to give up their normal season-ticket seat. I'm sure they do their best to accomodate you, but I don't think it's going to be at the expense of Griz season ticket holders. If I remember correctly, the Bobcat fan tickets were a little more spread out around the stadium, rather than congregated in one spot. Undoubtedly an attempt by the griz to negate any mass cheering from the Bobcat faithful. I think this is nothing more than an attempt by um to force out the Bobcat fans and allow more of their fans into the games.

i think most fans know/understand that - it sucks and they are venting. like you said $53 for an $11 seat - damn. my question was the same as you asked the psu person (what do they normally go for?). i personally think that $50 for this game (if both teams stay strong) is going to be a bargain.cat fans, welcome to our world. by the way - what is Econ 101 and supply/demand? can't respond with being a you know what? c'mon.

Okay, now that's too bad. I wish everyone who wanted could get into the game. Toddler, unfortunately I am waaay far removed from being a student, so I don't know what they charge them for a regular game. I do know that it's very difficult for UM students to get game tickets because they go on sale at a prescribed time and are gone in minutes. There just isn't much room left for student seating at Wa-Griz after season tix are sold.

why didn't you just buy cheaper tickets in one of the PSU sections?GrizinWashington wrote:cat fans, welcome to our world. Sit in the PSU section? Ever heard of a home field advantage on the road? Stupid question, never mind. The point is to sit together. Notice they still jack the prices up for the Griz games?grzh8r wrote:why didn't you just buy cheaper tickets in one of the PSU sections?GrizinWashington wrote:cat fans, welcome to our world. Back to the topic, I think $50 is a bit steep. I just payed $28 for Oregon/Cal tix and that was homecoming. Supply and demand though. I had no problem buying 6 tix the week before the game for myself and some friends. Try buying 6 tix to Griz/Cat game the week before. Forget about it.

I'm not buying that Griz/PSU is a supply and demand thing. This year, there were 13K for the game. 2004 there were 8,400. The stadium they play in seats in the neighborhood of 20,000. Doesn't sound like supply is lacking. Next time the Griz are out in Portland, all the Griz fans should just skip this one. At $50 a pop, it would send a pretty good message to PSU.DaGriz wrote:Sit in the PSU section? Ever heard of a home field advantage on the road? Stupid question, never mind. What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck. I can't remember how it ends but your mother's a whore.

grzh8r wrote:Get a clue. Most opposing team tickets are directly behind their team. (On about the 20 yard line, west side) But lets do the math. Stadium seats plus or minus 23,500. Over 18,000 season tickets are sold, UM students get another 3,000ish. That leaves just 2,500 seats for Administration, coaches and the general public. How many tickets do you think there will be available for opposing fans?b]This really doesn't surprise me coming from the griz.... there used to be a time when the majority of opposing team tickets were sold in the same section If I remember correctly, the Bobcat fan tickets were a little more spread out around the stadium, rather than congregated in one spot. If the face value truly is $40, then it seems um would be guilty of scalping their own tickets. Ridiculous. Just remember griz, two can play this game and I'm hoping next year the Bobcat athletic department plays by the same rules and charges exorbitant prices for griz fans and doesn't sell more than two tickets together anywhere in the stadium.
Does anyone know if there is a written agreement amongst the Big Sky or each school regarding the sales of opposing team tickets?
We give an allotment of tickets to sell for all home games. How the opposing school cares to disburse them is up to the school. You should be happy your school has chosen to get a percentage of those tickets to the students.

It wasn't $50 at the PSU/UM game. It was around $34. They raised the price but not that much. Supply and demand wasn't an issue either. They raised the price because the quality of the product was better and they knew people would pay more for that game. I like your idea though. Cat fans should listen to what you're saying, skip this one and send a message.I'm not buying that Griz/PSU is a supply and demand thing.
