Can a top 10 matchup be a trap game?

When the championship is a 3 team race even a top 5 matchup the week before Cat-griz could be labeled a trap game.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Shouldn't be along with playing on ESPN2

Boy a lot of confidence in this thread. I think UC Davis is good. They expect to win, they have some big time playmakers, a good QB who makes plays with his legs, and a resilient defense. I’ll go 37-17. I think we’re on a roll on both sides of the ball, and we are on a mission. I’ll be more conservative than some out of respect to Davis, but a game that looks similar to Idaho State wouldn’t shock me.

A win also ensures a top 8 seed and next weekend being the DeFacto conference championship game. This isn't a trap game.

I'm getting a lot of vibes similar to Idaho last year. Huge matchup. Night game on ESPN2. Top 10 matchup. Lots of uncertainty on if the team is going to show up. I'm thinking the injuries will finally catch up with Davis, and we win comfortably.

I have a short memory. I was watching the pregame report before the PSU-Cubbies matchup and they showed the highlights of our game with UC Davis from last year. Keep in mind what a great team we had last year with Tommy Mellott. (By the way Providence Park is a great venue for PSU football.)

Back to our game tonight. I just think our guys will respond to our raucous home crowd. But let's don't forget, this is the 9th ranked team in the country. Need to bring our A game. If we do that we will get it done.

I was feeling really respectful about the Aggies and hoping for a competitive game until I listened to the guy who covers them go on with Akem. He was so cocky. Now I want MSU to grind them into dust. Slash, burn, and salt the earth.

Same here. His attitude rubbed me the wrong way for some reason.
But then he picked the Cats by 14 haha.

Well if the Bobcats do salt the earth, at least the Aggies can remediate the soil with the proper leaching requirement and agricultural drainage 😊

The Massey Power Rating (as opposed to the Ranking, which is designed to mimic human poll behavior) has the ‘Cats as a 12.10 point favorite, which after adjusting for home field comes to just over 15 points. That feels about right until I put a score to it. Something like 35-20.

So that’s a good number but I don’t think they can hold the ‘Cats to 35. The ‘Cats might hold themselves to that with a couple turnovers of something, but I don’t think UCD can hold them under 40 points.

And I don’t think they can score 25 on the ‘Cats. So I’m going with 41-20 and I hope the 20 is generous. Depends on the end of game strategy.

‘Cats 41
UC Davis 20

I would have given it more of a shot 5-6 weeks ago.
They have too many injuries, and the Cats are rolling. Senior night, on ESPN, etc. I expect the Cats to do some work.

They’re still a good team with a good coach, so we shouldn’t see what we’ve seen the last couple of weeks though.

38-17
