I'll be the first to admit to having become pretty down on our basketball program the last few years. For the same reasons as others have pointed out again and again here but in addition to that it just wasn't any fun to watch those teams in most cases. In some cases it was almost painful basketball to watch. I don't mind watching a team that doesn't win as much as I would like if the brand of play is solid--good play, good coaching, good hustle and a sense that the team is really putting it all out there for each other. That's what in my mind has been missing and why I've kind of drifted away from MSU basketball.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, the solid play so far and watching a bit of the EWU game online last weekend got me interested enough to want to go see what this team was about last night. Let me just say that I am thoroughly impressed. Now, I'm not trying to raise expectations here or jumping on a bandwagon. I'll be cautiously but optimistically waiting to see how this team fairs the second half of the conference schedule. But what I was impressed with was the brand of basketball. It's been a few years since I've seen solid team play like that and it was once again exciting to see the Cats playing ball. Win or lose, if they keep playing with that type of attitude and determination they've won me back as a fan for this year and I'll definitely be hitting up a lot more games than I have been in recent years.

It's mid January, the slide hasn't started yet.

You might be right, but you better the Griz early January slide is their only one this year.

I would be happy if ONE of the following happens this season: An overall winning record. A win over the griz. A conference tournament win.

And if all three should happen-I'd be over the moon.
