Laughable.

What do you call the 2000 kids that stand outside the litter box drinking and not going to the game circa 2005?
STUDENTS THAT COULDNT GET TICKETS TO CAT GRIZ. I THINK IT IS GREAT THAT WE DO NOT REQUIRE TAILGATES TO SHUT DOWN WITH 5 MINUTTES BEFORE THE GAME AND 5 MINUTTES BEFORE THE SEND HALF!
sorry and it was the NDSU game and I got tickets 5 minutes before game time and rested my feet on the bench in front of me for the game in your glorious endzone seating. This isn't smack I'm trying to figure out what to call all the students that could give a rats ass about football and just want to be at the party. Are they bandwagon fans? or something else.

So you're trying to say the ONLY thing about the college football gameday experience is the football game being played that day :bs:

Doesn't this post more or less confirm the same thing that we Griz fans have been saying?? That it's okay for fans to come and enjoy the whole experience? Why are our fans "bandwagon" and yours not?

And I'm still waiting for one shred of evidence to support that UM has a higher percentage of bandwagon fans than anywhere else.

What I was trying to say is that typically the "bandwagon" fans as I defined above... are the ones that do not have an affilliation with the university. If you're a true fan, whether you attended school there, or had a friend or relative attend, or in some cases just decided to follow that team... you don't stop following them when they start losing.

Okay, I agree with your definition of "bandwagon" to a point. I don't think anyone really stops becoming a fan, though. But certainly fewer people will go watch a loser; that's proven every year in every sport.

But then, why do the Griz supposedly have more of these fans than anyone else? Certainly the cats weren't drawing 13,000 when they were losing, which would suggest that they also are now drawing a lot of fans not affiliated with msu. (which, BTW, I think is a GREAT thing: that's how I would define success. You're drawing fans you wouldn't automatically get).

When kind of evidence are you talking about? I am speaking from general experience and observation. I have several friends that are huge Griz boosters and they tell me the same exact thing, and it drives them nuts. A bunch of the "fans" that attend your games are bandwagoners. You can believe it or not... I don't care.

What does the gameday experience have to do with the number of bandwagon fans?

Personally, Yes. But every school has bandwagon fans, and there is nothing any of us can do about it. This debate is retarted stating that UofM has more band wagon fans then MSU? Our attendence has doubled since fall 2000. So we must have just as many fair weather fans at UM. Or did some of you just start to pay attention to MSU football around fall 2002???

Ok, this is driving me nuts. Last thing I have to say on this subject:

1: I hate the argument, “I know a bunch of Griz fans and they agree with me,” or the argument, “its ok I know a black guy so what I’m about to say is ok.” Have them log on and say it other wise it’s just you typing.

2: My only response from now on to the bandwagon fan comment will be, “arrogant prick”. This implication that you and only you can determine who has the right to cheer for your team really bothers me.

Personally, I could care less about "bandwagon" fans. As long as someone is willing to pay money for a ticket, buy some concessions, purchase a few souvenirs, and generally contribute to the overall financial well-being of the program, I could care less what their affiliation is.

Good post!!! Enough of this garbage your team has more band wagon fans then us! I doubt O'Day cares how my "band wagon" fans show up when they sell out WG Stadium every week!

Actually the burden of proof lies on you since you made the statement to begin with. I find it laughable and that's my opinion.

Nonetheless, good luck finding a way to back yourself out of this one.

Honestly, I was just trying to be smug about the Griz getting the new addition to the stadium...

This took a very interesting turn somewhere.

My proof is simple: Compare msu's attendance when they sucked (just a handful of years ago) against the attendance last season. What's the difference? By your definition, the difference would be 50% "bandwagon fans".

Your turn for some proof. 'Cause now I'm laughing'!!

You offered no proof. You are making baseless comparisons that have no merit.

The attendance is all you have but that obviously doesn't prove anything. You made the original statement and weren't able to "prove" it. I simply said it was laughable and you are the one who's trying to throw a "prove it" into the argument.

Good luck with "proving" it. How about I just give you a card that has the words "See other side" on each side. By reading each side and following the directions, I think you'll eventually learn what you're trying to prove.

Dude, you got issues. I'm not the one making the claim that the Griz have bandwagon fans. I'm simply asking those that are to provide some evidence or documentation. I'm uncertain why anyone demanding proof should be expected to provide some. I don't know. Perhaps your profs gave you your theories and documentation for your papers. I had to develop and support my own hypotheses, however.
