Looks like an announcement is as early as next week. No post playoffs if it’s Vigen. And…I hate Griz fans. That is all.
It’ll be leaked I’m sure by the weekend. Monday my bet would be the announcement and Wednesday presser

The thing that never gets discussed is the potential change for quality of life. Oregon is not the greatest state in the world to live in right now, taxes are high and politically they're falling in line with California (regardless of how you feel about it).

Maybe it's a homer bias, but living in Montana with a lesser wage, and leading a flagship program is WAY preferable than living in Oregon with a conference in shambles and playing second fiddle to University of Oregon.
I don’t think the political slant belongs here. That being said we’re not talking about a slight salary bump. We’re talking about making at least 5x more than what he currently makes. You don’t turn down making generational wealth because you like one place a bit more than the other. If Vigen truly loves Bozeman and is offered the OSU job, he can go coach through a single contract there and live like a king wherever he wants when he’s done, including Bozeman. Some people are almost as delusional as Grizzlies when it comes to thinking Bozeman is the end all be all.
Or maybe, there's some of us that have experienced both places and can comment on the real world experience of living in each area.
I've lived in both places, and I don't agree with your take. Politics isn't life. A place or region can be a great place to live, even if the local policies and politics aren't great. Both can be true.
** This **

While living in Oregon is not perfect, it can be a great place to live (20 years in Bend).
That being said, I surely don't agree with all of Oregon State government policy or Portland politics....and, we get by just fine living in Oregon. Beats the hell out of living many places in the West.
Way worse places to live than Oregon. I'd argue not many better. But it's irrelevant. People take coaching jobs regardless. Kalen Deboer moved to effing Alabama for goodness sake. You been to the south in August? Give me the devils hell any day, at least there's no bugs there.
There are a lot of great coaching jobs in places that are total and complete sh*****les. Waco Tx. South Bend IN. Baton Rouge LA. Oklahoma City. Springfield MO. And some people on this thread would probably think that coaching in Seattle or Los Angeles or Palo Alto would also be s*******les. Hell, there are a ton of Bobcat fans on this thread that can't imagine living in the sh****hole that is Bozeman. And they come here every weekend for games.

We all make decisions for a variety of reasons. Lots of people live in places they don't love. And the places you like are probably different than the places I like.

This is just a stupid conversation.
Yup that was kind of my point.

It's funny they think him leaving means anything for them. Last guy kicked their ass too. So will the next. Yawn. Quiet little brother.

Beyond disappointed that this is happening at a time when all of Bobcat Nation is excited for the player’s opportunity in the playoffs not to mention their excitement in just beating beating the Griz. Finish your job here first. Now is the time and this is the place Go Cats💙

The reality of modern college football. I'm sure they'll announce it, what I'm unsure of is if he'll coach the playoff run (if he leaves) or if however or Sterbick will on an interim basis. Probably Sterbick since he's been a head coach, game management etc. These guys are aware of what's going on and it's going to go fine one way or another. Vigen has earned the right to take his shot if he chooses.

Not sure what kind of playoff run we can expect at this point. If people don’t think that the team and assistants are also looking into their future plans as well, they are crazy. With the current climate of college football I would think it’s pretty safe to say there are others exploring their options.

100%
It was a distraction last year and I don’t see how it won’t be even bigger this year.

MSU's team this year has a very loose personality. If there's a team that can handle different types of adversity, it's this one. If anything, this might be a motivating factor.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

We're all a year older and wiser. Get it out of the way at the beginning; Vigen will have a better plan this year and will likely coach thru the playoffs. It's not ideal but I still think we'll get on a run and as it goes on it becomes less of an issue.

So it'll be, "Let's win it all for the coach that took us there, for his last hurrah " or something like that?

No, it's 'win for each other.' If a team was like you described, they would play well below their potential.

To be real for a second, if you think coach V’s phone is ringing off the hook for this job, among others, as it should…
Wait to till you hear about the players phones! It’s worse.

MSU is in a great spot to weather it. Like it or not, we should expect this each year for foreseeable future. Similar but different than NDSU and better than SDSU.

UM doesn’t have to worry about losing their coach, and they have been actively recruiting Big Sky conference players all year but especially as of the past week.

It’s expected when you are successful. Saddle up!

Sorry fellas, looks bad for yall. Josh Patterson our director of recruiting just did a late night follow. He followed Brent on Twitter but not Shephard. Could mean nothing but a later night follow could mean something!

I actually love the timing. Vigen will leave MSU sooner than later. I’m sure Leon already has a list of candidates in mind. But once Vigen is officially gone, it gives Leon about a month to have someone in place before the portal opens.

According to the NDSU fans, they believe it will be Polasek that gets the job (complete speculation I'm sure). But if that does happen, does Vigen still look at the CSU job.
Jim Mora is going to CSU.

Let me be the first to start the "Vigen to UConn" rumor mill.

Jody Owens is the Assistant Head Coach so it would likely be him. 99.99% sure Vigen would still coach through the playoffs.
