What will the board say to the prediction that TA will be back at starting QB this Fall? This will be the case I think. I don't see either Roving or Bauman being our starting QB when our jet lands in Lubbock this Fall.
Id make that bet all day everyday. Regardless of qb situation, Troy is now a full time linebacker who will get a handful of snaps each game on offense.
I would accept your bet. Please propose your terms.

Can I get in on this bet?
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Everyone knows that Troy is a superhuman anomaly, but maybe it should be considered that the expected medical clearance “full use” for the type of shoulder surgery he had would be around the beginning of September. Seems relevant knowledge for placing wagers. There are several I wouldn’t be surprised to see on the sidelines or light duty only until conference play. I do encourage each and every one on here to donate to charity regardless!

Good call, I think there is a decently strong chance he doesn’t play against TT at all, at any position. If he’s not absolutely 100% I doubt they risk him against an FBS opponent.

I’d be shocked if Troy didn’t play vs TTech.

He may not take the majority of the snaps during non conference but I'll put up$100 that says he takes the majority of the snaps by the time conference play comes around.

I think we'll see some "young punks" come out of nowhere again this year. Our lines have the potential to physically dominate with the kids who have transferred in and I'll say it again: Troy throws a better pass than Paul did. Thanks for that article, by the way.

Best of luck to Chris. As much as it sucks that he couldn’t get things figured out, never forget that he will walk away undefeated against UM. That is still pretty badass!!

I'm excited to see Rovig get his chance this year; I think he is clearly better than the other QB's. I'm not factoring in Andersen in this right now, as I hope to see him at LB all year.

I think that is an over reaction. The events at QB are well documented. They include injuries (two broken feet), academics, transfers in (two 4 stars), transfers out (all American, 4 star and backups), etc. Our progress in player depth, team culture and team RECORD speak for themselves.

Did some people just assume that Murray was going to walk on the field this fall and become the starting QB after barely participating in any organized team activities in over a year? I thought we just had a discussion about moving him to RB/WR because he wasn't that great of a "QB" when he was the starter? How did we get from "He should switch positions" to "I guess we have to roll with Troy as our QB again now that Murray is gone for good"?
The only thing that has changed is now the coaching staff can focus 100% on a traditional QB system (Rovig/Bauman) rather than having to plan for a potential running QB system (Murray/Troy). That was probably always the plan but now there's no ambiguity.

I don't get why so many are convinced that the QB run game is a signature of Choate. I think it came out of necessity, given the players available for the position the last 2 1/2 years. I think he (and MM) want a more traditional QB style and will return to that as soon as they feel they have the player for that position. All indications are that they think they have that player now.
I think we will continue to see wildcat type plays using TA and TJ, if for no other reason than to force teams to spend time gameplanning for it.

After watching springball, there was never a doubt in my mind that Rovig was the guy barring us bringing in some kind of can't miss transfer. I was hoping Murray could fit into that wildcat roll and perhaps follow Jonsen to WR. The only major concern Murray leaving brings(not that I won't miss him, he was one of my favorite players) is depth. If something(knock, knock) happens to Rovig, then can Bauman or Beltran(my pick actually) step up?

I agree. Rovig showed a lot of arm talent in the games he played in (especially timing/mid routes over the middle of the field). The only throw he needed to work on was the quick out routes and the quick release and timing. He showed during spring camp that he had indeed worked on those and looked a LOT better. I think TA will play about 10 snaps a game on offense, but 80% of them will be at the RB position. Rovig will be the starter.

If Anderson is a better linebacker than quarterback and it is deemed necessary for him to start at quarterback, that would be a real shame!
Championship grade teams have their best players playing their best position.

I kinda think Murray not being there might be a blessing in disguise!! I loved Murray as playmaker, he made you sit on the edge of your seat constantly!! (Both good and bad reasons) but now the coaching staff and players can concentrate on a creating chemistry with roving and the true traditional QB style that he and bauman bring to the team! I think this will help the team move forward during the summer and start of fall camp faster!! There won’t be as much drama or controversy in camp!
