Was it just me, or does Carpenter only do short passes well while Rolo only does deep passes well? We need to merge the two of them together so we can get some good diversity in our offense.
I love the big plays, but it seems like we have been either throwing deep or getting sacked a lot in the recent games.
I hope this is something that can be corrected in the off-season ... we have loads of talent back, some exciting redshirts that will be active, and certainly some good recruits coming in.
Next year ... home games throughout the playoffs ... and a trip to TN at the end.

1) im sure that everyone on this board can make decisions in the passing game faster then he has
2) you, myself know one tennant of the passing game: if you have nobody open, especially facing a fast d, toss it away, live another day.
3) see those guys wearing the different colored uniform: they are the team we are playing against. dont pass the ball to them

I'm just not following your consistency today. I understand being optimistic and finding the positive, but you are little miss sunshine when it comes to the coaches, and you are over-the-top negative ("he sucks" is not something I like to hear from a fan about an important part of the team) on Rolovich.Hell's Bells wrote:alrighty try thisBay Area Cat wrote:I'm not quite sure that is going to qualify as constructive criticism.Hell's Bells wrote:it might be a good time to send rolo down to the naia....he sucks

I agree that Rolovich had a bad day ... and has some elements of his game that need work, but I'm not sure your comments are all that insightful on that point ... and your rips on Rolovich seem really inconsistent with your desire to deflect blame away from the coaches for mistakes made.
They all made mistakes today, quite honestly.

You tell me not the blame the coaches, and then you instead place all of the blame on the QB. I don't think that's a particularly balanced or insightful observation.Hell's Bells wrote:BAC dont blame the coaches.Bay Area Cat wrote:I'm just not following your consistency today. Instead of hoping Rasmussen beats out Rolo and Carpenter why don't you hope the best QB wins.snowxlt wrote:Rolovich was aweful today and showed it many times this season. He has his great moments as said many times on this board when given lots of time to throw and he does have a rocket arm. Under pressure his decision making has been aweful. More that of a backup QB not a starter. Hopefully no QB starting job will be handed out and a battle for the job will ensue between Jordan Rasmussen, Carpenter, and Rolovich. Personally I hope Jordan outperforms the other two. Great Year Cats!!!!

Rolovich has a good arm and can stretch the field, but today, after being knocked around all day, you could see his confidence in the pocket evaporate.
By the time of the fumble, he just looked shellshocked.
When we put him into a position where he has to run, it's a lost play. He's just not Lulay with his feet. He's a pocket passer. So we need to keep a pocket around him.
The O-Line did pretty well at that all year, but struggled today.
I think if we could put Rolo and Carpenter in a machine to merge them into one guy, we could have a hell of a QB.

Agreed, he is not a scrambler and it just looks as though he hates to run. If Jack is to continue to be the man, we need to develop the O-line next year around his style. Today, it would have been better to see more three-step drops, quick slants, and screens. Why do we rarely throw screen passes - they are excellent at keeping over aggressive DEs off balance. And can someone please explain to me when you have two good receiving TEs in Barnhardt and Bostick - why do we never get them involved in the game plan? TE passes on third down are like butterwebdav wrote:Rolovich has a good arm and can stretch the field, but today, after being knocked around all day, you could see his confidence in the pocket evaporate.

Ditto and I hope Desin still still gets a shot at QB too. I know he was semi-officially moved to WR but watching Edwards keep plays alive with his legs when things broke down made things tough tonight (ala a certain red headed QB). I think we can improve the QB play this year and I hope Coach Kramer is on top of it either through improving Rolo and Carp or whatever needs to be done.bobcat2 wrote:Instead of hoping Rasmussen beats out Rolo and Carpenter why don't you hope the best QB wins.

Next year
I am sorry, but Rolo and Carpenter better get ready for the bench next year. If this is all we can get at QB, then the program is heading in the wrong direction. And another thing for Mr. Kramer, though I know he will never read this, but get a real punter. You make yourself, your program, your team, your mother, your fans, the city of Bozeman, the state of Montana, and everything else in this world look bad with that gay-ass rugby roll punt. Use a scholarship and get some good special teams people. Why do you think Hauck is a better coach then you, because he sees the importance of special teams. The guy never even played football and he gets this more than you do Kramer. Good call on the first play of the fourth. I won't even go there or I will get kicked-off the Nation.

(I hope that didn't sound like it just did)[/quote]
Why? because we have an OC that does not under stand how to game plan a complete game and does not know how to make good changes at half time. When something works, (like the run once Mason came in) he will try to mix it up with a stupid trick play. ( I always say, keep running the plays that work until they stop you) Bailey still does not know how to call a good game. I gave him high praise last week, but he fell back to his old dumb play calling. Why does Kramer keep Baily on as OC?

WOW!Cat Grad wrote:Enough already. Perhaps the opposing coaches saw something on our offensive linemen we can't accept? How many yards did our running backs get on their own this year? I'd like to place blame on any aspect of our team this year for some of our problems, but given the scholarship limitations, I can't. Our coaching staff did a great job juggling lineups and not burning a single critical redshirt, getting us a first round home victory and putting us in a position of woulda, coulda, shouda. Imagine that if Fullerton was still in Bozo and we had a staff that just wanted to make a positive contribution to their resume.
For whatever reason I'm not mad other than I don't like our offense and what it in turn does to the special teams and defense. Hats off to the defending national champions and our own mistakes and risks falling flat on our faces. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
