I’m planning to avoid finding out the score so that I can watch the game tomorrow.
I wrote a lengthy first post about a week ago, in which I introduced myself and explained why I love MSU so much.

In short:
- I got hooked on Montana basketball after watching the film Class C. It ticked all the boxes: basketball, small towns, community spirit, beautiful landscapes, etc.
- That led to me doing a road trip through small town Montana with my wife, taking in the Hi-Line, a pilgrimage to Reed Point, etc.
- I’ve since read numerous books and articles about basketball in Montana, including Blind Your Ponies, and feel like Montana is my spiritual home
- I’m fascinated by watching Class C players stepping up to D1 hoops. For that reason, it brings a lot of joy seeing Taylee Chirrick play so well.
- Now my number one thing on my bucket list is making it to Bozeman to watch the Bobcats. With two young kids, it might be a few years away, but that’s my life goal.
In the meantime, I’m excited to contribute to this forum, rather than being a long time lurker!

Yes, welcome to BN. I lived in England for a few years back in the 80s. I’m guessing you are also a fan of Issy Bunyan.Will23C1982 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 2:05 pmI’m a big fan from across the pond. Man what a start for the girls. This has been been incredible.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

And not a senior in the bunch. If this team stays together they’ll pile up the wins.

That was a fun game to watch and the lady Cats really showed toughness and grit to first stay in the game, then make the come back to get the lead, and when Colorado retook the lead with just 9 seconds left, they efficiently moved the ball down court with 3 passes and Taylee drove for the winning bucket. Then in typical Bobcat fashion they went right into disruptive defense with B Bailey poking at the inbound pass which took nearly all the remaining time off the clock.
While it's true that Heidi Smith didn't show well at the end with free throw opportunities (1 of 4) she absolutely made lots of positive clutch plays, steals and points that helped the Cats to victory. She made 5 of the last 10 points for the Cats and stole the ball once that led to one of those last ten points. Her tip in rebound basket to put the Cats up 66-63 was awesome!

Weird game bit awesome win. They go so fast on D they have a hard time getting to good shots. Quite a few where drive is cut off and just thru up a shot. And a lot of careless TO's trying to push tempo. I thought missed FT when CO started fouling were going to cost the win.
Looked like Brooke hurt her foot. Limped off first half and came back to bench in 2nd with boot. Rotation was a little shorter in 2nd half.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I just finished watching the game. Wow, that was incredible. You can tell Coach Binford really values character players, defensive versatility and tenacity. It results in an immensely likeable and fun to watch team.
I know she got into foul trouble and really struggles to finish at the rim (no surprise when the opposition have players 6’4” and so on), but Jamison Philip has become one of my favourites. She plays with such heart, putting her body on the line to take charges, etc. I think she’ll become an old school floor general type of point guard.
But this game was all about Taylee Chirrick. Her defense is otherworldly. Last year, I felt she was a bit too frenetic, but this season she’s refined her game and is more poised. Her positioning and hussle make her a coach’s dream.
I thought the commentators did a great job, even going to the effort of researching Roberts, MT. I’m a teacher at a school with 1,400 students so it amazes me that these small Class C schools with 39 students are able to produce such incredible athletes. This is exactly why I’m such a fan: basketball in its purest form.

Taylee cut her basketball teeth in Billings MT which is the largest city in MT with a population over 110K.
She also played club ball through the summers on all-star teams. She sure is a dynamic and determined player.
