If you want a good laugh, read the other board about the cruzado retirement.
They are convinced that president cruzado hated dumb and did everything she could to be better(paraphrasing)
The funniest thing is that those ****** think she's being forced out over the Housewright/Garza DUI situation.

Anyway, Cruzado will leave massive shoes to fill but it's also safe to say that the job of MSU president in 2024 is a lot more desirable than it was when she was hired. Let's give her many more Cat/Griz victories this year to go out on!

I'm not sure that "hated" is the right word. But she is incredibly competitive and wanted to be the best at everything, especially when compared to UM.

That's part of what makes her great.
It doesn't take much to be better than them these days. If she was doing everything she could that sounds like a successful president. Doesn't seem like a bad standard at all.

She likely could have been hired away by a larger and more prestigious university. She must have had opportunities to do so given her time at MSU.

As alumnus it’s huge that she stayed and chose to retire after all she’s done for our university. I sure hope she is on the hiring committee for the new President as now many from my generation at MSU have kids entering college and a few I know chose MSU to enter this Fall.

Let's be honest, it doesn't take much to be better than that school to the west...

For a pretty comprehensive review of all that Cruzado has accomplished, here's an article from the Q2 website. It is pretty amazing what MSU has become and accomplished under her leadership.

I have much bigger feet than she has, but I couldn't come close to filling her shoes. Congrats on the retirement and thanks for the legacy.

This is big news for tons of reasons, but most importantly she has been an exemplary leader for MSU!!! It’s said that a rising tide lifts all ships, and the tide that has lifted MSU starts with President Cruzado. She will stand alone as one of the very best university Presidents to ever lead in our nation. MSU has been more than well served…she has quite literally changed the university for the better! Congratulations President Cruzado, enjoy this last year, soak it in, and leave with your head held high knowing you’ve done great work in Bozeman and beyond! =D^ =D^ =D^

First thing first, congratulations and thank you so much for all the hard work you have put into making MSU the best it can be!

So glad to have had her but a little worried if there is any chance they will be able to find someone who can replace her. She really is a once in a lifetime type of leader and I really hope the University doesn't lose all the momentum she started.

I don’t believe I have ever seen a MSU president as supportive of our athletics programs as well as scholastic advancement.
I loved the hiring choices she made in our athletic department and in our coaches. I love the iconic video of the women basketball team celebrating in the locker room with President Cruzado dancing right amongst them. I loved the way she always talked about our athletes……and a quote I have heard her say many many times “I Love My Bobcats”!! Thank you President Cruzado.

I made the mistake of going to that other site and YES, that place is a dumpster fire.

Hopefully the next president cares as much about athletics as Cruzado does.

Waded is one of the greatest.

One of my favorite stories...

When I was still living Bozeman, I frequently traveled for work, which usually required a pre-dawn drive to the airport. One morning, I'm turning on to the Frontage Road near 19th, and in my rearview, is a set of headlights and they are on me. Quick. As any self-respecting speed demon does, I wood it. And still, the headlight persists behind me. In short order, both vehicles are wicked up to near-triple-digit speeds.

Mercifully, any encounters we avoided with the local constabulary. And as I throw out the anchors and ease my way into the parking lot - this was pre-round-about and the dedicated interstate exit, my you, I see a flash of the driver on my six. Briefly, I see horn-rimmed glasses peering over the steering wheel. And I think nothing of it.

It wasn't until I've parked and I'm hoofing it into the terminal, that I see a fast-walking Waded, blazing her way into the airport. Turns out, she was on the same, pre-dawn flight as me. And just as likely, less than enthused about the o-dark-thirty wake-up and drive to the airport.

I gained a whole new level of respect for her that day. Not only was her fiercely competitive spirit on display in the wee hours of that morning, but I also learned she doesn't eff around when driving. And that I can respect.

I, too, have seen her in action behind the wheel. Must’ve been late for a BOR meeting as she blew by me on Prospect. That was about ten years ago. I’m assuming she has or will lay off the accelerator now that she’s about to retire. Funny sight though. She can barely see over the steering wheel.
