Good god can SWX get some annoucers who know alittle about the Lady Cats. They had or didn't seem to know anything about Deden.
They said something pregame about wondering if nerves would get to her since her mom played for the other team. I didn't quite catch all of it since I automatically tune out anytime I hear Chris Byer's voice
Remember Beattie’s mom was also a Griz...two times all Big Sky.

Surprised he is not whining about one of Binford’s time outs ....

Frankly, the announcers are horrible. The color guy is ok, the analyst is just the worst. The program can do better.

The broadcast on Pluto was very good. The picture quality was the best I have seen on Pluto.

How about Tori's block in the 2nd half. That was cool and a surprise to both players!

Colter, thanks for loading up that presser and linking it up here. Nothing new but you could tell, fans or not, that it’s still ‘Cat-griz. I don’t know anything about Mike Petrino, but it’s been a long time since I heard a um coach give MSU much credit for anything. What’s the chance that he gets hired there? Does he need to beat the ‘Cats on Saturday, or does he get a little grace period?

I texted multiple people this exact same thing after the presser got over...

A blowout loss and then honest praise of MSU's coach and players...I'm afraid he's a dead man walking now-no matter what happens on Saturday.

Personally I think the lady Griz are a better team than they showed tonight, though I have only watched parts of 3 of their games before tonight.

I said during the game how every player was contributing and want to repeat and emphasize that now. Everyone did something special and above the expected while they were in tonight! Does anyone else remember that offensive rebound that Lamardo ripped out of a Griz players hands and while flying out of bounds threw it to Beattie who took it to the hoop for 2! I literally yelled OMG that was a thing of beauty!
Coach Binford and her staff have done an awesome job of recruiting the past couple of years especially.

I do agree, the Lady Griz are at least better this year with Mike Petrino, and probably better than they showed out tonight. We’d best not let our guard down and relax one bit or things could go the other way on the Kryptonite court in Dahlberg.

The one thing that won’t change is the style of play. The ‘Cats were visibly quicker at almost every position. The steals were some evidence of that. If we could have settled our offensive nerves sooner it might not have ever been in question.

Coach Binford has finally reached a critical mass with the team success, where really good players have heard of MSU and want to come here. We may have recruited players of this caliber a few years ago, but not signed very many of them. Coach Binford said she never wanted to coach a team with more than five new freshmen. Recruiting was pretty much done when Leia Beattie expressed interest in committing. What’s a coach to do? She said she had to break her rule and take six as she just couldn’t pass on her. Good decision. There were only six Under-Armor all-Americans in the states we recruited, none in Montana. We got two of those six. Congratulations Coach Bin. And for getting chosen to sit on the head football coach’s hiring committee.

Didn't realize that Beattie was so to speak the last one on the boat for us in this class and thank goodness Binford overloaded the boat cause Beattie is going to be a great one. It just keeps blowing me away at the level of skill and game/teammate awareness these freshmen have.
It seems to me that Binford was on the Choate selection also, do you remember for sure? Bad week for her to have one more thing on her plate but she can probably juggle it just fine, didn't seem to affect things tonight.

Yes Coach Binford is on the selection committee for new football coach.

Don’t want to counter B4Ever because he is right most of time but I was pretty sure it was Deden that was last in. Either way... Deden or Beattie it was a wise move!!

And if you count Stumne who is a redshirt Freshmen, technically there are 7 Freshmen on the team.

Limardo made some pretty plays. For as young, tall and lean as she is she handles herself well on the court, she shoots a fair 3 ball, mixed it up for a couple good rebounds, sees the court well, is not afraid to drive inside or bring ball up court. Competitive kid.

Alright my “meaculpa” to B4Ever. Billings Gazette reported that Lexi Deden verbally committed on June 24, 2019 and Leia Beattie on Twitter verbally committed on June 25, 2019. As a side note, reading on Leia announcement she led her team to two state titles and averaged 26 PPG as a senior.

@BobcatDel
Hey, no need to apologize. I couldn’t remember where I heard it myself. But I found it saved in my notes on this year’s recruits. I had asked @mslacat for his opinion on the six true freshmen, and this is the beginning of his reply.
mslacat wrote: I think this is a dynamic class, and it maybe the best class in Binfords tenure at Montana State. I have heard before that Binford has an unwritten rule about signing no more than 5 freshman in a single class. It is just difficult to get that many young players up to speed in a single preseason. Her plan for 2020 was to sign up to 5 freshman max (with her 6 available scholarships) and then sign a transfer who would sit out or hold that scholarship over to the 2021 class where it appears we will only have a single scholarship to offer (Tori Martells). Binford, though, started getting commitments for this class back in 2018. She was getting commitments from her top ranked recruits and when she hit 5 she could not turn down her 6th commit (I believe that was Beattie) she was just too good.
Two state titles in Texas, even down a level or two, is no small deal.

I don't think being down a level or two matters as much in Basketball, especially these days. Of course I'm a Class B guy, so I'm going to say that. But smaller schools just need to get a couple players and they're competitive. And in a lot of cases there are way more of the smaller schools, so winning a championship is more impressive. I remember watching the Class B girls state championship game in Bozeman in 2014 with Malta and Fairfield. Sophia Styles and Jill Barta absolutely put on a show (pretty sure it was double OT), and you can't tell me there was a better girls' game in all of MT that year. (Side note, I was the AD at Bigfork and as soon as that game ended we played in and won our first ever state championship in Basketball, but that girls' game was even more memorable than my game haha). So give me those small town girls that can win any day!

You are totally correct. With all the traveling teams all the good players play each other anyway. I’m sure Leia got plenty of competition. Her school was in Midland, Texas. Anyone ever watch Friday Night Lights?
