Re: Nine Lives
Except that one condones that act and suggests that all Montanans do/should condone such stuff. You kind of left that part out of your analysis.BR GRIZ wrote:Let's see, this post is funny, witty, humorous, interesting, informative (you pick the adjective) when a Cat fan implies the Griz lack Montana values by abusing a cat, but is insulting to all Montanans when a Griz fan then responds that Cat fans are PETA members. This post was started with a sick attempt at humor and BearBAC responded with a sick attempt at humor. It's pretty disingenuous to smile and wink at one and then feign righteous indignation at the other. Either smile and wink at both, or recognize that they are both insulting.
It ain't a Cat/Griz thing that's insulting ... it's the level of ignorance he shows about Montanans.
EDIT: In retrospect, you're probably right. I should take it as nothing more than a weak attempt at humor, which is certainly not worth bitching about. When I try to dumb down my thought process to a second grade level, I can see where any sentence containing "PETA" and "California" and some putdown of MSU or Bozeman would be, in his own mind, a witty putdown of MSU fans. The concept that bugged me was truly beyond his ability to even fathom, so I'm sure his intent wasn't to suggest that Montnans would actually condone such behavior. It feels funny to think this slowly and ineffecitvely, but I can't do it much longer ... I had to hold my breath for a minute to even get close, and I'm about ready to pass out.
And I do admire your willingness to stand up for the guy who has singlehandedly tried to convince all of us that Griz fans are morons for many years now through his thousands of repetitive and mindless posts. I would have assumed that all Griz fans would have distanced themselves from him long ago.

How else would you respond to someone who spouts nothing but gibberish?
Yes, he has us right where he wants us: We all recognize he's a sad, sick griz fan; one who fairly represents a fairly significant % over in Missoula.
BTW: I found it quite interesting that when I finally pointed out a website stating MSU was the 1956 NAIA Co-Champion, he never posted again in that thread; maybe there ARE actually ways to shut this pathetic dipstick up!

The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

Unfortunately, we 'Cats can't go head to head with a true grizidiot. He is 'certified' as an idiot and has coaxed a few of his brethren to join the campaign. This could be part of the treatment they are receiving to overcome some obvious mental difficulties.
BB is such a pathetic, self-absorbed, vindictive individual (reminds me of Gollum- I lost my "Precious").
BTW, I generally just ignore BB, but maybe the best way to get rid of him is to push him to the edge (anywhere but the smack forum)- he's close to being banned anyway.
FTG!!

Both Griz and Cats fans flip smack against the other, in the fans' attempt to "one up" the other. It's part of what makes following your team fun. In the vast majority of cases I see this as good-natured ribbing, pulling the chain of the fans from the other team.
There are cases of fans taking this to an extreme. Some fans flat out hate the other. I see more hatred of the other team, however, from Cat fans than I do from Griz fans. Perhaps this is from living in the western part of the state where most fans are Griz fans, with the steak in football going on so long. While I never want to lose to the Cats, I do appreciate Joe Glenn's comments after the 2003 game that the best thing that could have happened for the rivalry was for the Griz to lose. IMO the steak caused bitterness in the Cats, and a feeling more of apathy of the Griz toward the Cats during those years than hatred. I further believe that this has resulted in some Cat fans interpreting smack, whether it was good-natured intended or not, as an unforgiveable slam.
Nonetheless, it's all perception. I completely disagree with Gato's statement that there are a significant percentage of sad, sick people living around Missoula, as I'm sure there are people who completely disagree with what I've said here.

If I thought this would cause such a stir I wouldn't have posted it. It was a SMACK type post not intended to insult or condone anyone. I just saw it and thought I'd post it with a little Cat/Griz rivalry humor in it. I think when you read a lot of smack posts you need to take it with a grain of salt.
