Re: Cat men on Altitude tonight
The Cats have found their roles using Colbert and Dison at the point, Coleman the three point shooter, Egwonu is starting to feel comfortable taking the turnaround 15 footer, Blount and Moon are not forcing shots, Davis hangs around and chooses his openings, and the team just keeps grinding and not beating themselves down the stretch.

It was ugly at times but an ugly win is much better than a pretty loss.(Is there such a thing?) I am hopeful that we can keep the momentum and continue to be competative. We can beat ND if we continue to improve.

Re: Cat men on Altitude tonight
great team win. for me it all comes down to improvements and adjustments within the game. these got shot better from the field in the 2nd half. shot better from three in the second half. had a higher free throw percentage in the second half. and most importantly got more rebounds. when all was said and done rebounding was the only thing unc did better than us and only by 7. we had more steals, more assists, more blocks, fewer turnovers, and most importantly....more points.
if this team focuses more on defense and rebounding to start games there is no reason they can't be right in the mix every game. our 2nd half defense was awesome. just need to start games with the same intensity. and coleman had a GREAT game tonight and i hope his and the teams confidence grows from here.

No doubt a great win for the Cats, and one of those gut-check victories that can go a long way down the stretch. The team has definitely played much better since Huse made the adjustments, getting rid of Stewart and suspending Bigelow (do we know yet if this is temporary or will be permanent?). The men have managed to wrestle themselves into a third-place tie in the conference right now. So far, I am eating crow as I have been blasting Huse and the team pretty hard, but am happy to eat that crow if this most recent success continues.
Here's the kicker: we've all seen this scenario play out many times before. In fact, almost every season Huse has coached the Cats. Huse's teams get hot, make a run and put themselves in contention, only to finish the season losing four, fix, sometimes six in a row. Keep in mind - this recent winning streak has come against teams in the bottom tier of the conference (UNC: 3-10; EWU: 4-11; and PSU: 4-8); teams we should be beating and I expect to beat. We lost to a mediocre NAU team, and lost to the only BSC team we have faced with an overall winning record at Sac. State. Saturday night we play a bad UND team and should win even though it's on the road. That would put the Cats at 4-2 in conference play, with the like of UM and Weber coming up (two games apiece with those teams).
Can Huse keep the ball rolling and the wins coming consistently? I don't know. I would really like to hope so. The Cats need a great season to start generating some excitement. Huse needs a great season to stay in Bozeman and help his coaching reputation out. However; I just can't help but get over how his teams ALWAYS finish a season, and I CAUTIOUSLY optimistic that he can stop this trend of late losing streaks. Time will only tell...

That was great. I looked it up during the game, and the elevation of Bozeman is actually a couple hundred feet higher than that of Greeley. So unless their basketball arena is built on very tall stilts, the announcers didn't quite get that one right! The play-by-play guy was the same guy who does the Colorado Avalanche NHL games, so probably not someone who is a huge basketball expert. I thought they did a pretty nice job though and had clearly researched the teams quite well.fatcatsat wrote:i found myself watching it also. good road win. thank god the altitude did not get us????? anybody else catch the announcer saying that in the first half..

The did very good, just had a little chuckle there. But again i hope i am not falling into the trap of thinking these guys have a chance only to lose the last 8 games in feb/march. they were fun to watch last night..MSU01 wrote:That was great.
