If you don't harp on spelling and grammar very often, that is a pretty weak time to start. :P
On the contrary, I think a response to a post in which he was crowing about what a great education he received at MSU is the best possible time to start harping on grammar. The fact that Mr. Tapp apparently managed to bumble his way to a diploma at MSU without learning the difference between a plural and a possessive does not reflect well on the institution. ;)
My major was engineering not english. And yes, engineers do speak in their own language.

As long as he doesn't "dangle his participle" in here, I don't really see a problem.

Be that as it may, the fact is that in this country, English is the language that is most commonly spoken. That being the case, if your education did not give you a firm grasp on the English language, then I would argue that it has failed you, regardless of what your major was.

P.S. Just for the record, pretty much everything I've said in this thread was tongue-in-cheek, and should be taken as such. The only real message here is that if you're going to make comments about the education and/or intelligence of others, you'd best make sure your own post is solid; otherwise, expect some abuse. :)
