Is there still a Mexican restaurant in Belgrade called Marguerita's (or something like that)? I only ate there once about 10 years ago, but I remember the food being decent, but mostly remember it for the "2-for-1" drink specials when a train passed by (which happened twice in the hour we were theremote]
Margueitas was using the restaurant to traffic cocaine. I think that is why it was so buisy

The Belgrade Mexican place is Fiesta Mexicana. It's above the Lounge on Main Street. I like it a lot. Rio Sabinas is good-I liked it better when it was Bar 3 BBQ though. For Chinese-Hong Kong City next to the Main Street Town Pump is generally better than the Wok (also on Main), but we go to both quite often. For Pizza-Earth's Crust-south of I-90 on Jackrabbit Lane is really good-there's also a Pizza Place in nearby River Rock that's really good.
For lunch-Belgrade has a Pickle Barrel right next to Lee and Dad's Grocery Store. And as mentioned earlier the Chalet has great sandwiches-best fast-food there is in my opinion.
The Oasis is always my first choice for an "expensive" dinner. The place should be even better now that the smoking ban is in effect (the smoke hit you right in the face when you went in the place). The Mint in Belgrade is a little classier than the Oasis and very good-but I like the Oasis' food better-both in quality and quanity.

The Mint is expensive and too inconsistent, we were there in December and the prime rib was so tough you knocked food off your plate trying to get it cut.
Stacey's has a great steak place they have prime rib daily and has always been flavorful and tender. Very well cooked.
The Oasis is good but some people may not like the gravy style bath that the meat sits in.
The sports bar right next to the Oasis has very good pizza
Damascos is the Italian restaurant in Belgrade. It is very good (says the Italian by marriage) and the calimari is the best we have found in the land locked area we call Gallatin County. It is very small, but they take reservations, so call ahead.
Rio Sabinas is weird and I was not impressed with the Margarita I had. When we were in there the waiters were dressed as cowboys (hats, boots, the whole works) the waitresses were dressed as Indians (feathers, headdresses). I thought it was a little weird having "cowboys and indians" in a Mexican restaurant but possibly they had a theme night or something.

I hear you on the Mint there man. We don't go out too much but decided to try the Mint because I heard so many good things. Well, I ordered the prime rib medium rare (is there any other way?) and it came to me well done. WTF??? It was the first time I've ever sent anything back. When I did get it back, I could swear that the dish guy was looking at me. Suffice it to say, I didn't eat it when it came back.
I suggest to try Ale Works or Louie's Down Under in Bozeman.

Suprised no-one has mentioned The Gallatin Gateway Inn yet. Very good food there, and only about a 15-20 minute drive due west of Belgrade on 191. I agree with all accounts, except BearCat's opinion of The Oasis. I have yet to have a bad meal there - and their relish tray is something you very rarely see at ANY restaurant anymore; a nice touch, no doubt.

ya sometimes these food threads can get a little off track. we have a lot of pretty good little places around here to eat at. but if a guy was coming from out of town and wanted to eat at the best place possible, frankly i don't think it's close. i'm talking food only. obviously the atmosphere at the oasis is nothing. but there is no steak even close to as good as there anywhere in the area. hell, it may be the best steak i've had in this entire state. places like ale works are cool, but their food is nothing special. don't get me wrong, i go there probabaly once a month for some beers and food...but it's nothing different than hundreds of places across the state. and i think their drinks are a little overpriced but i guess you're paying for the whole "downtown ambiance" thing. if i was coming from out of town i'd make the oasis priority number one, and then the rest are all about the same.
do you have to know everything to post here? or just think you do?

I concur on The Oasis, I used to cook there and my mom still prep cooks there. She makes all the salad dressings, bakes the bread, and makes the homemade chocolate sauce for the ice cream sundae for dessert, plus she bakes all the bread and hamburger buns. And now they have an awesone Sunday breakfast. Best around, I hear, haven't actually gotten out there for it yet, maybe this weekend.
P.S. She also makes the batter for the finger steaks , but I can't get her to give me the damn recipe so I can make it at home.

Oasis for the win.
I don't know where else in Montana where you can get as big of a prime rib, soup or salad, and dessert for $25.
