How much better is bobcatnation?

I usually don't pay much attention to the smack board, but I got lucky this time and caught a discussion that I do need to comment on. I definitely appreciate the kind words from elkmcc, but I really want to stress that I actually do very little on this board (other than post way too much). Kmax and rtb do all of the heavy lifting in terms of technical maintenance, design and content, and they are doing a lot of moderation that some may credit to me.

We have agreed upon a general framework to let people say whatever they want to the extent practical and some other general approaches to how to handle various situations, and once those rules are in place, it takes a lot of the judgment on our part out of the equation, which seems to be working for the most part.

Again, we appreciate the kind words and hope that others feel that our framework is working okay for them. As always, though, any constructive criticism or suggestions are always welcomed.

I would be negligent if I failed to mention that moderating this board is relatively easy -- our users are, with very few exceptions, incredible to deal with. If anything, they almost all moderate themselves and each other, and do so respectfully. We're really fortunate to have a really good group of users.
