On many occasions they complimented a MSU player, shot, block, etc. that you wouldn't expect to hear from the opposing team's radio men. Refreshing after listening to several other universities broadcasters. And this is not unusual since our internet feed is iffy a lot.
Boy Wycat, that seems very smart thing, I feel a little dumb I did not think about it. I was working last night on a new (well different) computer, so I was not sure how the computer was set up. I did end up listening to some of the Griz game and yahoo'ing for updates.
BTW The Griz / ISU game was remarkable for two reasons. I don't think it reflected the talent level of the two teams but did show the potenial of the Griz. The Griz have been a very streaky at best, shooting team from 3pt land but, in the first half the Griz put on a 3pt shooting exibition that was amazing, they could not miss. On the other hand ISU could not hit a basket to save their life. I can not remember a mens team EVER shooting that bad! Give the Griz credit, but I really do not think we will be facing the same ISU team Saturday. I think they are going to be fired up to redeem themselves.

Did anyone notice that Dissly took very few shots and didn't score too much, but played a lot of minutes...and we won!

Yeah, he looks to be just playing within the offense lately and playing tough on D and rebounding. I think he will slowly start getting more shots as the season goes on though and people start adjusting to Jefferson/Miller/Durham and trying to game plan for them. So he better be READY!

Dissly's three ball looks great when he takes a little time, goes straight up, and shoots it. But he sometimes shoots it quick and he's fading away, and then it's a brick.
Miller and Durham sometimes have questionable shot selection too. When they wait for an open look in the flow of the offense it looks really good. But they go through stretches where they just launch it and it doesn't look too good. Miller launched a bad one in the second half, coach Durham was chewing on him pretty good it looked like. Later on Miller's shot selection was very good.
Moss has a lot of moves and drives a bigger defender nuts. As the league starts to figure him out I hope he realizes that he can dish it off to Beye under the basket. He missed a golden opportunity to do that last night, but he traveled while trying to force it.
The key to this season might be Beye and Moss being able to work together offensively. That and our ability to rebound-Weber had way too many second shots-part of that was due to our double teaming Alred and leaving the weekside open.

A question for Belgrade and anyone else who may have seen the game, did we get homered by the refs as bad as Attebury made it sound? My favorite quote from him last night came in the second half after he mentioned that Weber had shot something like 16 or 17 free throws and the Cats had shot like 2, "Welcome to a road game in the Big Sky" or something like that. Said that our officiating in this conference has come to that type of a standard.

I watched it and I didn't really notice it that much? The we did foul Weber on numerous occasions on offense, but there were some missed calls on us going to the hoop (MOSS/BEYE) etc. The officiating didn't really stick out much though? Allred was just a horse inside and we weren't blocking out a lot and they were getting offensive rebound and putting it back (and fouled).

Early on I was wondering, it seemed we weren't getting the benefit of the doubt. But as the game went on I complianed less and less. They even let Beye block some shots-which is amazing-lots of refs immediately react on a blocked shot and call a foul.
Weber did get to the line a whole lot more than we did-for whatever that's worth. Part of it is our style of play compared to theirs.
Hey, we won! Who's going to complian about the refs when you win.

Hey, I'll never complain about Big Sky officials. I grew up in the Gallatin and got to see something like I hadn't since the late 60s in a Montana High School game. With Whitewater beating Frazer 99-55 with one second left, a Whitewater kid drew a ghost foul away from the ball (nobody within ten feet of him) so he would be able to get them 100. We should be used to Big Sky officials. Besides, they're what gives us our reputation.

I don't blame Beye for not blocking out Allred...lets save him for more than the opening game!

Last night was not a bad start for the conference schedule...the proof of the pudding will come in late February!
