Wow, you own Montana State University? And here all this time I thought it was public institution governed by the state of Montana. Oh - you own that too? Gee, I didn't realize we had such a celebrity here on our board

As for your "true Montanan" and "I'm from Montana and helped create your state & your university" crap, please spare us your precious breath and time. You're barking up the wrong tree. I'm a fourth generation Montanan, third generation MSU alum, and have turned down many offers to leave the state of Montana because this is my home. And I really don't need a snot-nosed 17-18 year old kid who can kick a football attending my alma mater to make me feel complete.

No sour grapes.

Two days in bad weather does not a winter make. It will get to them quickly. Texans are not snowboarders, nor are they fisherman for weenie cold fish.

Playing at 8000+ feet will put them out for the next 2-3 games.

Let's stick with the facts: you had the chance to get a California player with DNA running through his body that created your institution. He is an all-state player in a state easily as competitive as Texas or Florida. He can play at 8000+ feet and run a stack for a complete fourth quarter to secure a victory. He has a 5s hangtime on punts with a healing avulsion fracture of his plant foot. And, yes, he has been stuck in blizzards for days at a time - 50 miles above Los Angeles.

Hey, I just thought it would make great press to have the ultimate native son at "your" institution, but I guess you like the fact that you brought in a bunch of players from Texas who no one can find information on. Status quo. 6-5.
I was really enjoying your posts up until recently. I thought you were a pretty level-headed guy who liked to chatter with a bunch of Montanans. But you're really starting to sound like a dick.

You are not the first, nor will you be the last, person who comes on here and pimps their kid and then lashes out when the coaches decide that other recruits have higher value. I understand the frustration of that sort of thing all too well, but venting at us will do you no good. In fact, it just makes you look bad.

I hope your son walks on at MSU because he wants to be at MSU and wants to get an MSU degree. If his only reason to go to MSU is to play football, and he wasn't recruited for that purpose, he probably shouldn't go there. But football isn't all that important in the grander scheme of things.

It's unfortunate that you feel as though MSU owes your family something for having once had something to do with Montana, but unless you have a wing of the school named after you for having donated a lot of money, that sort of thing probably carries very little weight.

And it's particularly bad form to essentially start cheering against MSU the moment you apparently realize that your son isn't going to receive preferential treatment for being a Californian who is related to somebody whose ancestors were from Montana.
I am level headed, and you are not Montanans.

You are right, give preferential treatment to boot wearers without credentials, and no ties, ancient or present. They're from Texas. They will probably beat Appalachian State all by themselves.

The real issue is that Ash and staff probably got the information a bit late, and their hands were probably already tied with offers they wish they could now take back. Go look at the footage on You Tube. There is nothing they didn't like nor was there any player more capable. You are crying about losing players to Colorado School of Mines for God's sake. We walked away from a Mountain West school last summer (in the most temperate climate in the US). We were communicating with UDub yesterday. This isn't about being left out, it is about playing in the school you own. The place you truly belong.

Furthermore, I will never root against Montana State, Montana, Western Montana, Montana Tech, etc., since it was the foresightedness of my own essence that created you all (plus the forty hour work week for miners, and even federal law that was very nearly plagiarized from the original constitution). My name is on every wing of each of these schools.

Is your name Joe?
No, his name must be Hall. You know, as in Langford Hall, Montana Hall, Jesse Hall, etc.

You call the University of Montana library and say you would like a picture of one of your ancestors, like I did in 2002. Their response to me was: "no problem and no charge, would you like just the picture or would you like a .jpeg image for your computer wallpaper?" BTW, they found the picture in about a minute.

Listen folks, in 1866 there was a constitution drafted that was lost on the way to the printer. In 1884, there was another constitution that was ratified, but turned down by the US government. In 1887, a thirty year-old gentleman wanders over from Kentucky, sets things in order starting July 4th 1889, and Montana soon was the 41st state. Yes, he was a free mason, but I don't think he was a vigilante.

The snot nose would be 19 upon arrival, and if he knew who called him that, you would most likely be dismembered. He doesn't just kick. He does everything, and he will do it with an ankle fracture and a separated shoulder at the same time. More heart than you could ever imagine.

You can jab at me, but don't jab at him. He has more character than everyone on this board combined, including me.

They are 100% legit. Go look at the footage on You Tube and compare it to footage you can't find on your signees. Then tell me how great things will be in five years. Even better, find me a clip where one of your signees picks up and drops 400 lbs of manflesh.

Yes, a relative latecomer compared to your family, but we had to hang your family for their crimes before the federal government would recognize Montana as a new state.

So all of these absurd self-aggrandizing and delusion posts are legit? Damn, I was hoping this was a pretty good joke. So you really are laying claims of ownership and expecting special favors because you are a couple generations removed from a Montana resident? Wow.

Now if you will excuse me, I am off to make my demands of Norway. They owe me. I had an ancestor who lived there at one point.

Are you another one of those that wants to rewrite MT history for PC reasons, that is what you sound like. What happened in 1864 is over, and no one has any credibility rewriting it 100+ years later.

First, I am surprised that you, being such a true Montanan, would need to call the UM library for pictures of your family. Congratulations on all the pull you have with the folks over at UM; we're all very impressed. :? When I need an old family photo, I just call my family, all of whom still live in Montana.

Second, just because you are related to someone who was involved in Montana history does not mean we or anyone else including MSU owe you anything. Many people worked hard in building this fine state; your ancestor just happens to be one of many.

Third, I can't tell you how frightened I am by your threat of having your kid travel to Montana to kick my butt. Really, I think I nearly peed my pants. Oh wait, maybe that's because I was laughing so hard. You know those internet message board threats really tend throw a lot of intelligence into the discussion.

And finally, I don't doubt he does have more character than you. You lost any and all credibility when you began throwing your temper tantrums because he was passed over by MSU. Most mature people collect themselves and look for their next opportunity, not whine & dwindle over what has happened to them.

I won't be calling the university of Montana for anything. If they have the picture that gives you ownership of everything in the state, maybe they also have a spot on their football team. Our punter is young and did fairly well. I hope your son/brother/nephew catches on somewhere where he can get the degree he wants, but I think we are set at punter.
