@TomCat88, You have given us a few clues, but can you give some more details on what happened pregame?

He was trying to fight people the whole game. I really wish the refs would have done something about that. The fact that the head coach wouldn't be interviewed is so tacky. I mean come on. They outplayed and outcoached the Cats today it seemed, and yet we still won. There was some SERIOUS emotion during the game and alot for the coaches to address this week in practice from that, to some sloppiness, etc. I think we'll see a very different team next week.. Ok wow.
Which is true. I think everyone knows that the players in the 'Bama/Georgia game are not worried about finals this week.
Not sure why this is somehow news to football fans.

This is a good article. Adam Jones, a leader on this team, addresses the extracurricular stuff and I'm confident we won't see behavior like that again.

Everyone knows that most football players don’t go to “real school”, that they get a different level of treatment.
And one of the best things about Bobcat football is that the staff & culture put a high level of emphasis on academics. Something that isn’t true over the divide or at the vast majority of other schools.
I don’t know why BN is so sensitive about this, but we should stop playing the victim card.

And I don't know what you're talking about that football players don't go to real school. If you're talking about the SEC then sure. But when it comes to FCS players, they DO have real school, and real classes, and take real tests. Yes they get a lot of help, access to tutors etc but they do have real school.

I agree. Also, onceacat’s claim that the school “over the divide” places less emphasis than MSU on academics for student athletes is pure B.S. (which doesn’t stand for “bachelor’s of science” in this context).91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:10 pmI'd say you're being just as sensitive as anyone else is.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 8:54 pmWe’ve been over this a dozen times. After listening back today, I agree with you that the Yale coach wasn’t taking a shot, just making a comment. We will have to agree to disagree on whether FCS players do real school.

You are talking out your butt. You went from saying “most football players don’t go to ‘real school’” to “some do” and “some don’t.” Those are vastly different scenarios. Then you inappropriately call out a former student athlete by name, whose circumstances you know nothing about, and take a swipe at him. Lastly, you don’t have a clue about what the school “over the divide” or any other schools do to promote academic success for student athletes.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:07 pmSome FCS players do. Where are you coming up with this other than your FBS crap. This is specific to their hurt feelings because people questioning if they belong. Harvard got rolled and Yale trailed 35-7. It was legitimate questions. MSU athletes go to real school. They take finals next week. Not one person has claimed being a victim. You seem to be much more sensitive to the pushback. Yale went from no interviews the week of the game to this comment. If they had won would he have said the same thing.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 8:54 pmWe’ve been over this a dozen times. To be clear: lots of FBS players DO real school. But it's a choice. Lots don't. (I have a kid on a D1 athletic squad right now. Some kids do real school, some don't). MSU (and likely UM, and obviously Davis, and probably the DSUs) all have kids that could both handle the academic load.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:25 pmYep, the starting QB for Montana State was kicked off the team for grades. I wasn’t there — and that made it easier to see on TV the interactions between the players. A heart pat and a helmet tap is not hardly animosity — sheesh! I was smiling when I saw Julius and his ex-teammate interact. And then the rest broke out, and it was quite apparent that ESPN had it all wrong. They needed to review the replay!! Good on Takhari Carr, too.

Re: Julius Davis
Okay, finally listened to this post game by Yale. The "real school" comment was a justification by the coach. It had a slight dig tone to it. To deny that is dumb. That comment didn't say as much to me though, as the earlier one where he spoke of them being disrespected because they're an Ivy League team. They came to Bozeman with a HUGE chip on their shoulders. Maybe they perused BN and saw the Brains vs Brawn post, lol. It's highly likely that all the on field drama stemmed from that feeling of disrespect, and possibly being exacerbated by some of the Bobcat players. The "we've played 12 games" comment was also an excuse. I give that team a ton of credit for how they played, regardless of anything else. They played tough, with nothing to lose, and house money, as was discussed all week in many interviews. It might have done the Cat players some good to have listened to JP Flynn's interview as he emphasized the football prowess of the Ivies. I think he referred to them as meatheads who love football, or something like that. The stereotype of nerds in highwater pants and thick glasses certainly didn't apply to this team, and wouldn't to any football team in this day and age, but the stereotype still exists, ignorantly, and perhaps a few Bobcat players decided to role with that type of trash talk. On the other side, I'm certain there were some entitled Yale players talking down to the Bobcat players too, likely with some stereotypical comments about dumb hicks and cowboys, or worse. The Cats did what they needed to do to win, Yale didn't do enough. I prefer the post game interviews where credit can be given to the play of the opposing team more than making excuses for yourselves. The Head Coach of the Defense for Yale could have chosen a better direction for his comments, but he didn't. Oh well.tilecat1961 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 4:55 pmI can see the where possibly a lot of this chipiness that started pre game and carried over post game .Listen to the post game with Yales coach McGowan towards the end of this post game presser where coach refers to his players studying for finals and going "to a real school".

This whole conversation is dumb.
Who cares if they slighted us? Maybe the did, maybe they didn't, we won. Their players talked trash, our players talked trash, the game is over, we won. There doesn't need to be a bad guy.
