It felt more like he's not going to leave this season and especially not to OSU. If there is somehow still a good job available in the middle of January I wouldn't be surprised if he went after it. There would still be a high bar to leave but I think the biggest thing keeping him here today is that the season isn't over and he doesn't plan on it being over until January. If we didn't have a legit shot at the title things may have gone differently last week.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:27 pmTo me, it's pretty clear reading that statement that he's not going to leave this off-season. I suppose we'll see whether that is proven right or if I'm dead wrong.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:03 pmThat statement was as unspecific as they could make it for a reason. Nothing about it was unequivocal.

Not to mention New Orleans to Gainesville is a shorter distance than Bozeman to any G5 school. That's still regional.coloradocat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:30 pmRegionality is applicable below the P4 level but if you're at a big school you should have the resources to recruit nationally without a problem.catzrule1991 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:19 pmTrue, But we just saw Sumrall go from Tulane to Florida. That’s a big jump and New Orleans to Gainesville isn’t one state away. I’ve seen less crazy things happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if we start hearing rumors about Vigen and Penn State.SonomaCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:09 pmI think college coaches are still somewhat regional, so it would be odd for a NE team to go after a small school western coach. They simply don't have the recruiting or coaching relationships in that part of the country.
If they were a nationally known "celebrity" type coach, then I could see it. But not a rising coach.

That is not true Zebragriz. New Orleans to Gainesville is 532 miles apart where Bozeman to Salt Lake City (University of Utah - G5 school) is 411 miles.ZebraCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 1:14 pmNot to mention New Orleans to Gainesville is a shorter distance than Bozeman to any G5 school. Wellllll, you got me on the distance (although 532 miles is still very regional). However, Utah isn't a G5 school. Utah State in Logan would be. The point being, Tulane is regional to the SEC schools in the deep south and Florida, + Central and East Texas. The argument was about regionality not playing a factor, when in fact it was definitely in the same region.NVCat1993 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 2:07 pmThat is not true Zebragriz. The U Washington coach (DeBoer?) went to U Alabama. I don't know if he has any ties to the SE, but that's about a big a jump distance wise as you can make. So I think it proves your point.coloradocat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:30 pmRegionality is applicable below the P4 level but if you're at a big school you should have the resources to recruit nationally without a problem.catzrule1991 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 12:19 pmTrue, But we just saw Sumrall go from Tulane to Florida. DeBoer got the Washington job from being successful at Fresno St. He left Sioux Falls to go to SIU as a OC and bounced around Eastern Michigan, Fresno than Indiana. Fresno hired him as a head coach and he excelled.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 2:57 pmGood to know.
