If there was anybody on the fence, Gold Rush should have sealed it regardless of win or loss. That place was electric. No 2 vs No 3. Double overtime. Under the lights. Just look at social media and all the amazing content and videos from that game. The don’t have that at many Mountain West schools. And didnt we set a new attendance record? It had to be close.
Pretty special night and tradition. I think we're allowed to call it a tradition but I don't know we may be accused of stealing it. At least we didn't call for a blackout night and wear white uniforms...

Everybody in college football is just copying what the Mecca of football is doing.

Jeff Choate may have done it to "own the Griz" but Jeff was actually going for something deeper for the culture of the football team. Choate was all about celebrating the history and owning it as our own. Past players, great seasons, great teams. If it was anything positive for the Bobcats, he would push marketing to celebrate it. This happened in small doses in past coaching staffs but stuff like beginning an in-state jersey tradition, taking what Ash did with the Gold Rush game and making it the 2nd biggest game of the year, pushing really hard for stadium improvements despite losing records, and competing for in-state talent at a level unmatched by prior coaching staffs. Jeff is a culture builder, great motivator, and promoter. His x's and o's were arguably average in the grand scheme but he was bringing in a pile of Jimmies and Joes by the time his tenure was up at MSU. If #41 is the best accomplishment of the Choate era along with never losing to the Griz, I guess it makes sense they want to call us little brother for "stealing it" because it wasn't the only thing Choate stole from the Griz in his tenure.

I know we weren’t the first team in college football to have a color themed game (whiteout at Penn State), but I recall the Gris trying to copy us with a “slate” game. Only about a 10% of the crowd showed up with the grey colored shirts. It was an epic failure.

I found it, The Granite Game. Epic fail!
