Re: BOTW series, 23/24
We knew T&F was a given. So, based on some other posters comments we need golf or tennis to get a point. That has happened and its all but a formality that MSU wins the trophy again.
Hating the griz since 02.

Yeah, NAU's top two were a combined -10 on the back 9 today. Crazy low. That Lizzie Neale's round was a tournament record.tetoncat wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 3:25 pmNAU tore it up on back 9. Winner shot a 64 and I think was 6 under on back 9.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:13 pmGreat day for the Cats! Tough day for the girls from over the hill. Cats played lights out on the back 9, going -4 as an entire team, even with their worst (non-counting) score. The gris went +20 on the back, also including their worst score.
MSU finishes +2 on the day, but unfortunately got off to a bad start, going +11 Monday. Probably going to finish 4th, but could get some help. Weber is not playing well down the stretch, NAU is. UM finishes 7th, most likely. That's not changing unless NAU or WSU goes +20 on the last handful of holes.
That seems to be the point MSU needed to tip the BOTW series back in the right direction!

Nope. We lost the doubles point today; however, Kanika (pictured right) won the deciding singles match.

10-7 victory has a nicer ring to it than a 9-8 victory. Nice job Men's Tennis!

Doubles always* plays before singles from my experience.
*Always, meaning the one tennis match I've ever watched live.

What is a game of team tennis called? It can’t be a game, set or match.

Re: BOTW series, 23/24
(MSU’s) Jayathilake … survived a third set service break to fall behind 5-3, dealt (UM’s) Zhang two breaks of his own, then served out match point at 40-30 to clinch his own victory at No. 6 singles and hand the Bobcats a 4-3 win over their arch-rivals.

That’s pretty intense.

Well no way we lose both Men's and Women's track. Probably don't lose either one. So the series will go to us!

Not sure if I'm missing a joke...but it's all three. "Game, set, match" comes from tennis. First to win six games wins the set. First to win two or three sets, depending on the level, wins the match.

Yes, in an individual or doubles tennis match it's: game, set and match. So, I was wondering what a "game" of team tennis is called since game, set and match are already used for other things. I guess they just call it a match as someone pointed out.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:03 amNot sure if I'm missing a joke...but it's all three. "Game, set, match" comes from tennis. I always just assumed it was a “meet”, like wrestling, track, swimming. Individual sports in a team setting.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 10:46 amYes, in an individual or doubles tennis match it's: game, set and match.
