New BZN high school concept 2

Post by ADOKmt » Fri Feb 01, 2019 4:50 pm

Madison Pronghorns. Basically a knock off of the Longhorns with a horned helmet and some pride stickers. Used the Milwaukee Bucks logo as a base for the primary Madison logo. Went with Madison over Gallatin just to be able to use that logo lol

Maybe the old school should be Gallatin High and the new school can be Madison High-that's kinda cool.
Pronghorns is a good nickname, but everyone around here that I know of, calls them Antelope.

I like the idea, they are a unique animal. Another slang name for them is Speed Goats.

Speed Goats would be the greatest nickname ever. They could fund the new school with merchandise sales!

Unfortunately, school boards and the like almost always go with basic and boring.
How great would it have been if Standford had become the Thunderchickens! https://www.stanforddaily.com/2011/03/3 ... rchickens/

Given the last two examples. The school board would choose chickens or goats.

Antelope, or Pronghorns. Bozeman High would love either. All you see is their white backside running away, fast. Whatever 'they' come up with, let the students of the new high school vote on the names. CM Russell HS, an obvious choice for Great Falls. Once the name of the school had been decided, 'they' had a vote for the kids to decide on the mascot: Wranglers, Mavericks, or Rustlers. Again, the choice was obvious. Anti-establishment bad guy.
Bozeman. Known for? Bozeman Trail? Jim Bridger? Mountain Men? Gateway to Yellowstone Park, geysers, stupid tourists, Bison, Bull Elk, and, yes, GRIZZLIES. Grab a Montana history book or two and do some research. ](*,) The effort of the Pronghorn mock ups IS worthy of mention in the effort category. Good job!
Here, I'll save you the effort: Jim Bridger High School Mountain Men. Done.

Ah, sarcasm! I like sarcasm. If you can name two mountain women, we'll consider your nominations for the school name. Other Mountain Men of note in this part of the country include John Colter and "Liver Eating' Johnson. Colter already has his name attached to a residence hall at MSU. Perhaps, a dining hall could be named after Johnson. I'll stick with Jim Bridger High School Mountain Men.

Pronghorns is a good nickname, but everyone around here that I know of, calls them Antelope.
They would likely get notice to stop and desist from using both names from the attorneys representing the alumni of the former Antelope High School Pronghorns.

So "Speed Goats" is still in the running? Lame pun intended

Speed Goats are always in the running. I'm going to start petitions to rename every little league, AAU, and amateur team in the area my kids may join to Speed Goats.

How about Silicon H.S. City Slickers ?....the mascot could look like Billy Crystal
Gallatin HS is decent....Or Nelson Story HS....and Jim Bridger HS is appropriate....Spanish Peaks HS
Wolverines are a natural for a Mascot and I don't think that is used anywhere in MT (although there may be a co-op somewhere using it).
Spanish Peaks Wolverines! yeah, that's the ticket.
The Porcupines (Porkies for short) are being used by Nashua... at least until they become extinct.
The Fighting Librarians might have some appeal.
The Doggies?
The Game Boys?
The I-Pads?
Gallatin HS Bozos?...(meh, may lack appeal)

I wondered what the 'mock-up' of the school buildings would look like. Nice. Now for reality. First goal is to get the walls up 'so we can work indoors.' Priorities! 18 months until the Mountain Men take the field and the classroom.

I have no issues with the Madison Pronghorns name, but a Bozeman high school should never wear those colors. Perhaps you are too young to remember when those were UM's colors.

It just would seem odd to me to have the name be Madison. It would be like Glacier high calling themselves Yellowstone.

The colors are the first thing I thought of... NO to those colors...
