Yeah I knew that and actually stated that Olson was 50 behind Counts the week Joe's injury happened. I was simply stating that Joe would've only broke the record and eclipsed Blake by getting that extra game (beating Flathead and advancing to the title game). I do not think Joe would have caught up to Blake if Joe was healthy going into that semifinal game, hypothetically.sonsout wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:24 pmCounts actually had 1,024 yards in the five games before the Flathead/Bozeman match-up and with his season ending totals, averaged 199.1 y/g. He is extremely impressive to say the least. Without the injury to Olson, the race for the record would have been fun to watch, agreed.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:08 pmThere was a distinct possibility that Joe would've broke the record over Blake as Bozeman would've had a better chance to beat Flathead with Joe in the semifinal. It was lining up to be a Sosa/McGuire season-long slugfest for the rushing record. That injury was really too bad because that would've been a great story.CelticCat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:03 pmOlson would’ve had a shot at 2,300 I think, he was at at 971 yards on 135 carries in 5 games (I took out the 1 carry 3 yard performance in his 6th bame where he broke his arm on the first play from scrimmage). So that’s 194.2 YPG, if we times that by 12 that’s 2,330 yards.

Vim, any word on Brody Grebe’s status? I remember the article from the fall saying he would like to rodeo and/or play football next year. Watching some of his basketball highlights, I would love to see him in the blue and gold next season and can see why the Cats and the Griz had significant interest.

Don't know Connor Paul's future aspirations but his recruiting profile states he wants to study engineering and play college football. For a kid who can develop into a quality defensive tackle at either 1 or 3-tech or even compete at guard/center on the offensive line, MSU should be pursuing him. If they aren't, that's unfortunate.

Connor Paul and Garrett Brown (two of the best two-way lineman in the state) sign on with Mary.

Brody Grebe will likely go the basketball route. Or do a combo football/basketball deal with a Div. II/NAIA school.

Something's gotta give with quarterback/safety recruits and throwing the javelin. Luke May's PR in high school was 205-04

How would you rank Drew Deck out of Kalispell Glacier? He is a little bit like Gabe Sulser. Really fast slot receiver. Heard the Griz have been talking to him quite a bit.

Deck is nowhere near the talent level of Gabe Sulser. But yes Drew can be an effective slot/jet receiver at the next level. I have him ranked #13 in my initial Top 50. See it in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=47308.

Did MSU ever recruit Todd Ogden out of Glacier? Dan Ogden's little brother...he threw 210 for the state record, then beat it by like 2 inches the next year. He did throw 215 as a senior but it doesn't count as a state record since it wasn't at a state meet.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:58 pmSomething's gotta give with quarterback/safety recruits and throwing the javelin. Good javelin throwers tend to be pretty special athletes. It's a combination of speed, explosiveness, and a little bit of crazy. I think we'd see more of them playing college football, but since there are only a handful of states that still allow HS javelin, there are lots of big-time opportunities for javelin throwers at big schools all over the country.
Tadan Gilman was a very good javelin thrower (and QB) too, but I think closer to 180 feet.
