Guys played really hard. Out hustled Weber but we don't guard the three point shooter effectively and it has cost us dearly the last two games. Sam again played a great game. Too bad he has had to play out of position his whole career. Entertaining game but we are still a player or two short.

Is it just me or do our guys always seem directly under the basket on rebounds? Felt like on at least a dozen of them they would collapse too far and 1 Weber guy would rebound over 3 Cats on a soft bounce off the rim.
amazingly, I thought this very same thing the last game I saw. But I've only been able to make two games unfortunately so I didn't put much thought into it.

But last night we got doubled up on the boards and 11 of them looks to be on the offensive end for Weber. Felt like more honestly. And on several of them we were pretty much under the rim/backboard at the time. Way too deep.

I'm curious if this is pretty common this season or if it's just kind of an anomaly in the few games I've seen? It seems like a random thing but it's often something coaches will spend some time on. As I said I haven't been able to make nearly the games I want to so I have no idea this season.

Phantom did you notice any of that when you were here?

Regardless....I hope it's something that gets addressed. We're not a good enough rebounding team as it is to not be fundamentally sound.

So tell me if anyone has seen this movie before? We get off to a good start in conference play...4-0 last season, 4-1 this year. Despite overwhelming historical evidence telling us otherwise, we can't help but be optimistic (myself included) by our strong start. But of course the roof eventually caves in, some seasons it happens earlier than others, but it always happens. After the 4-1 start, what is your best guess for our record in the final 15 conference games? I'm going with 3-12, for a final record of 7-13 which should place us about 8th or maybe 9th in an 11 team league, followed by a first round loss in the BSC tourney for the 10th straight season (and 19 of the last 20). Can anyone honestly tell me things are going to play out differently? Last year we went 2-12 in conference after the 4-0 start.

I... feel the same way. Not sure we'll be as bad as 3-12, but at best I think 7-8, although it will be like win 6 of the next 10, and then lose 5 straight and limp into the tournament and blow a lead in the first round game.

Basketball conversations on this board are largely laughable because of the highs and lows spewed for our reading. And largely, the level of content is toxic and deplorable. Where’s the middle ground? Slinging around doom and gloom absolutes gets a bit old.

I'm very open to hear your counterpoint, giving us a compelling reason to be optimistic. And if I"m wrong, and this really is the year when things turn out differently, I'll gladly eat my words.

I would be ecstatic if we went 7-8 after the 4-1 start. That would put us at 11-9, and I'd be very satisfied if we finished above .500 in conference. We've lost the first 3 of the remaining 15 games already, so that would mean going 7-5 from here on out. I"m sorry, but I'd have to take the under on that.

The counter part rests in the fact that all teams make the big sky tourney and momentum close to that time should be a more determining factor than if we lose to a one seed in late January. Like three players and Fish stated the importance of defense after the loss- which I’m going to assume they will work on. We did not get blown out, but could never close the gap. Team play is not static and as predictable as many of you prophets claim. So it was so it shall be is bull crap. February could be a turning month. The boys are playing hard and if we learn how to make some teams uncomfortable with their offense then I believe we have a lot going for us. But again, as stated in the beginning of my post it really is all about the tournament.

This is nice. Do you have a rating for 3 point shots made or missed over individual players contesting the shot? This has been a big problem all season.

And exactly how many times in the last 20 years have we had momentum going into the tourney? The answer may not be zero, but it's very close to that. You're right...February could be a turning month. That's usually when the wheels come off completely.

The one difference I have picked up from Fish this year is a comprehensive plan. From the beginning, he played tough teams to prepare for the difficult conference teams. Paid off vs PSU and in other games as well. He has consistently evaluated each game and identified areas of emphasis. He then focuses on those and repeats the cycle. This should show benefits in the long run.

Individual game results will depend on the competition and the emotional meanderings of young athletes. With this process, results should continue to improve. I am leaning back and enjoying the ride.

We could have beaten Weber, but the guys on the floor need more help from the four guys on the bench who are getting paid!

Is the women's Cat-griz game also on SWX next Saturday? Or is it only on Pluto?

Actually I'm not getting the ISU game on SWX here in GF for whatever reason.

It says the ISU game is on SWX, but it's not! Having to listen to the game via the tunein app.
