Men vs NAU

Post by RobertCats » Mon Dec 31, 2018 2:26 pm

Frey had 17 at the half. Hall not shooting great. Cats led by 3 at half

With 9 minutes to go Cats up 54-53, Devin Kirby is playing great GD basketball right now. Ricketts has already fouled out.

Cats are falling apart now. Down 8 with about 4 minutes remaining. Normally I'd be ecstatic to open conference play with a split on the road, but after beating SUU by 30, it would be pretty disappointing to lose to an NAU team that was picked to finish dead last in the BSC.

NAU had its day today. Ricketts fouled out and only played about ten minutes with two points. Hall shot and played poorly with no assists and 4 turnovers. Frey missed a crucial FT down the stretch. Bowling had 17 points off the bench for NAU.

Hopefully the guys stay positive. Tough to overcome Hall being cold and Ricketts foul trouble. Plus they get 17 from a sub. Not many teams win against all that.

Missed too many-what should have been easy-shots in the paint. Not having Ricketts most of the way sure didn't help. He has to be a lot smarter with his defense. We need Hall, Frey, and Ricketts playing well to win. Only Frey played well today.

The Cats have played well the past five games for the most part. 3-2. Bad start vs. Denver and not much went as expected today.

Would’ve won if Hall or Ricketts or Bowling (for NAU) has a normal game. Bowling came in averaging 1.4 points per game and 21% from 3. Went 4-9.

Can anyone tell me why Haruna is getting like 2 minutes a game? We seem to get dominated by big strong centers and this guy is never on the court.

The picture of the game action makes it look like there are 4 fans at the game.

My guess-Haruna is too prone to travel or foul. Schuecker didn't get any minutes either, even though whenever Kirby went out, it was layup practice for NAU. Fish has a really hard time coaching big guys-for whatever reason. Kirby being the one exception so far.

This is my problem with Fish. Players need minutes in live games to improve and once they are in his doghouse, they just languish there.
