Voting

I showed up at my polling station just after it opened at 7:00 am, and I had to wait about an hour to vote. When I left after voting, the line was about twice as long as when I had arrived.

I think there is some heavy turnout to be seen today, if what I am hearing anecdotally is any indication.

It sounds like that is typical across the nation. Glad to see a big turnout this year. Not a problem here in Wyoming. It took me longer to fill in all the little ovals than it did to stand in line

Luckily here in Oregon the whole voting process is done by mail. I filled out my ballot two weeks ago while watching Monday Night Football. What a great system!

Even here in Belgrade there was a considerable line. Waited over half an hour in line and that was after 9:00 this morning when I had hoped the early morning rush would be gone. Good to see so many getting out to vote though.

Waited 2 hours, but I went right after lunch and when I was done the line was considerably shorter. A couple of coworkers went this morning and only 10 minutes.

It doesn't look like this one is going to be contested, which is a very good thing. At least we won't have to go 4 more years listening to whining about the "stolen election" by people who don't believe in the electoral college. In my mind, a bad result is better than another contested election.

My ideal situation would have been a Democratic President and the Republican House and Senate -- gridlock to keep either side from going to far to their base and to keep everyone honest. As it is, I just hope that the Republicans can show a little restraint for the next couple years and not get too full of themselves.
