Timely read
I'm reading Atlas Shrugged. Just as Jules Verne foresaw many inventions Ayn Rand really foresaw many things. When you read it you have to keep reminding yourself that she was a socialist.

Re: Timely read
While Rand had an up close and personal view of socialism and defected from the USSR to the US, she could hardly be called a socialist. She had some twisted views on the purpose of life. Check some of her interviews and lectures on youtube and I would consider her manner of living a failure as she was a bitter and sad figure during her latter years. Capitalism without altruism reveals in her manner as a failed philosophy.

Ok, I stand corrected on her philosophy. Have you read the book?Rich K wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:02 pmWhile Rand had an up close and personal view of socialism and defected from the USSR to the US, she could hardly be called a socialist. Yes. I have read the book. Prepare yourself for the sermon of a lifetime as the ending puts Stephen King's diarrhea of the typewriter to shame.allcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:08 amOk, I stand corrected on her philosophy. She certainly is long winded. It's the philosophy stuff that seems so prophetic.

Re: Timely read
She makes a great point. It just takes her A VERY LONG TIME to get there. I wish I could remember the name of the English course I took in college where one is taught to use few words to explain a long detailed subject... Ayn Rand would have failed that course.
