Champ at Pride in Helena

Post by michigancat » Sun Jun 17, 2018 2:05 pm

Who's idea was it to have Champ go to the gay pride parade?

Montana State's Mascot shouldn't be used for such things.

Don't know how to post the pic from the gazette, but they have Champ dressed in a rainbow tutu!

This should really be in the hangout or politics board.

Yeah, I just saw it in the Helena news paper too. Not a big fan of it. I don't like the tutu at all. Kind of pisses me off.

Really fun event. Kind of like the Last Chance Stampede. Lots of high energy people in funny clothes partying and whooping it up. Not sure why anyone wouldn’t want their mascot at it.

MSU - 14 team National Champions (most recent 2011); 52 individual National Champions (most recent 2017).

Does that mean the university should send Champ to push Waded's agenda?

Should they not because it is against your agenda?

A university isn't a political platform.

Waded is crushing her opponent. With the number of "elite" faculty who drove through an ivy league school or one of similar "stature" left thanks to their union and tenure policies, this will help this large difference continue to grow:

Very wise and prudent move by the MSU faculty.

Her agenda of attracting as many students as possible? As a dyed in wool Republican I can say she has my full support in this as it helps MSU stay in the black. It’s a huge group with tons of money to spend on higher education.

I did not think you were; I'm simply pointing out MSU has another demographic to concentrate on now and I feel she ought to do as much as she can to show them MSU is a better choice than UM. Their economic "professor" is skewing their data in this article, for what it is worth. Their consumate sum total FTE count for spring semester was in actuality 9100 students--and that includes graduate students.

Those numbers can be found on the BOR and MUS reports if you choose to review them as I don't feel like posting the links from the spring reports.

News flash folks: Tuition revenue from a LGTBQ student is equal to that of a straight student. Fantastic idea from MSU to have Champ at this or any big event!

If MSU were trying to push a political agenda it wouldn't have just put Greg Gianforte's name on the Computer Science department. It's all about one thing and it's something that both Democrats and Republicans like: money.

Why not send him? MSU is a huge-tent campus, and must (and should want to) be viewed as welcoming and tolerant of all creeds, colors, and orientations of students. It isn't and doesn't have to be a political issue, simply about embracing tolerance and using a symbol of the university to do so. There has to be more pressing things to worry about than this.

My thoughts exactly! The most urgent issues, in my opinion, is getting two DL who can come in this fall and be in the rotation the by the first game or we're going to need more cornerbacks!

Then, get some kids who can catch a football! And what about the basketball team? Lord, some people need to get their priorities straightened out! Worrying about whether or not our mascot goes to a Pride activity...geezzzz!
