I plan on watching the Griz and UNC this afternoon to see how UNC measures up. This game is in Greeley so may be a tough matchup. UNIC comes to Bozeman Monday...hoping for another W with home court advantage.

If the Griz lose, it's a great day. If the Griz win, Bobcats move into a tie for First Place in the Big Sky.

The griz won by about 20. Sets up a big game between the Cats and UNC Monday.

Looks like UNC likes to drive at the basket and then drive some more. They attacked the griz time and time again and either threw up a circus shot, got their shot blocked, or occasionally drew a foul. It wasn't pretty. It didn't work. I'm afraid Ladan Ricketts will be fouled out by the first media timeout. It's going to depend on Daniels, NIkkarinen, and Frey being able to keep their man in front of them and Kirby not getting into foul trouble.

With the Griz win, Cats are now tied for 1st. Big game Monday night in the Brick. Hope a big crowd shows up. Who would have thought the Cats would be in first place a month ago?

The optimist in me keeps saying "man, we've got our best starting 5 in many years, 3 quality depth pieces on the bench, a couple others that can get a board and soak up a few minutes, we really might have something here!" But then the negative guy on the other shoulder hits the shock collar and screams "it's early, dumbass, how many times do you have to see this before you learn?" I think if we win tomorrow, my optimist side will be unstoppable. Looking ahead, our season in league could largely be defined by the 4- game stretch with ISU, Weber, and UM at home, with UNC following on the road. But for now, I'll enjoy the fact that for the next 30 hours we have a big meaningful game to look forward to, and go from there.

That's a great take, GoldstoneCat. I agree with you. I am looking forward to a meaningful game against UNC Monday night. I hope the Bobcat Nation comes out to support the Cats.

If you live anywhere near Bozeman this game is a must go and anything less than a sell out is a disgrace. MSU should be doing whatever it can to make sure the student section is jammed packed. This is a game for first place and we haven’t had to many of those after the first week of conference play. But maybe more importantly this is a game where the best Bobcat in a long time, probably ever, has a very good chance to break the Big Sky scoring record.

So here's another thing that's interesting about this game:
Tyler Hall needs 28 points to become the Big Sky's all time leading scorer.
Jordan Davis of UNC, who is leading the league in scoring this season, is pushing 2000 career points. By the end of the season, these guys could be No.1 and No. 2 in Big Sky scoring history.
Could Davis pass Tyler Hall??? I'll let somebody else try to work out the math on that one.

By my calculations, if Tyler was to average 10 ppg the rest of the way, Davis would need to average 23.3 to pass him. If Tyler scores 15 ppg the rest of the way, Davis would then need to score just over 32 per game.

The other wrinkle would be Northern Colorado got extra games last season with their Big Sky tournament wins and a post-season tournament where they got about three games (CBI or CIT I think). They could do that again. But still, probably a long shot-barring injury. I was surprised it was that close though.

46-46 14:40 left. Game of runs, UNC will go up 8, Cats will storm back. UNC has led 90% of the game. Hall has 24 and is shooting great.

Team defensive effort and awareness isn’t great. Offensively we are playing pretty well.

Lassi seldom makes the wrong play with the ball in his hands. Hard to overstate how much he and the staff have developed his game/confidence in the last year. Blevins looks mostly lost on both ends tonight, ball just stops when he gets it. Tyler needs to touch it every possession, one of those nights where he's making the basket look huge.

UNC attacks the rim regularly, we are getting beat off the dribble on almost every possession in the 2nd half. Shooting the ball pretty well, but I imagine we are getting destroyed at points in the paint. MSU 55 UNC 64 7:35 left
