High energy game so far. We aren't getting some fouls called unfortunately, imo. we're down 25-18 with 7 left in the 1st half.

We're behind 31-28 with about 3 left in the 1st half. Tyler on the bench with 2 fouls. We're doing fine without him thus far. Questionable call against Q has PS on the line. They cant make free throws... one guys is a 36% shooter from the line

Well every AA level (and probably some A level) junior high gyms are bigger than Sac States so it's not like PSU is the low man here.SACCAT wrote:I think every AA school in Montana has a bigger gym than PSU...Embarrassing.

MSU looking decent so far. Hall clearly outshines anyone else on the floor when he's out there even when he's making mistakes. I really think by the end of the season they'll be able to compete with anyone in the Big Sky.
Don't believe the lies of the dishonest media - according to data provided by Sean Spicer, there are more people in attendance at this game than at any NBA game played so far this season.SACCAT wrote:I think every AA school in Montana has a bigger gym than PSU...Embarrassing.

Nope, both are horrible. Went to a Cats game at Sac State once, it was pathetic.kmax wrote:Well every AA level (and probably some A level) junior high gyms are bigger than Sac States so it's not like PSU is the low man here.SACCAT wrote:I think every AA school in Montana has a bigger gym than PSU...Embarrassing.

46-44 MSU lead at the first media TO of the second half. Osayande has three consecutive baskets for MSU on offensive rebound putbacks. Has to be a while since a MSU player has done that!
Side note, these MSU gold 'alternate' uniforms that they're now wearing every other game are the best uniforms this side of the 1984 football throwbacks any MSU team has worn in a long time. Hope they stick around.

I have to say I am enjoying watching this game as much as any game in quite a while. I love the defensive effort and the offensive rebounds! wooooohoooo!
Also really like the uniform look.

MSU gets up by 11, goes into stall mode, allows 9-0 run by PSU including two missed front ends of 1&1s. Gah. 67-65 MSU with 54.8 to go, MSU ball.

Clutch lay in for Frey puts MSU up 4, then good defense forces PSU to call TO with 18 seconds left!

Cats win 71-65! My possibly lengthy research project for the rest of the evening is to find the last time MSU swept a weekend set while UM simultaneously got swept.

Both teams shot only 37% from the floor. MSU was 19% from 3, PSU was 22%. Both teams made 16 free throws though PSU had 9 more attempts. Doesn't seem like you can say this often, but MSU won this one on the glass - 53-37 rebounding advantage including 15 offensive rebounds and at least 4 or 5 baskets in the second half on easy putback layups. The team seems to have come a long way in a short time since blowing a late lead at Idaho - 4-4 in conference play now and 7th in the conference, 1 game behind UM in 4th place in the last spot for a first round bye in the conference tournament.
I tried to figure out the last time MSU swept and UM got swept on the same weekend - unfortunately ESPN's schedule database only goes back to the 2001-2002 season and it hasn't happened since then until tonight.

Wow! What a confidence builder this has to be! Frey didn't shoot exceptionally well, but he was absolutely clutch when we needed it most. With 22 points tonight, Hall moves into a tie for 31st on the all-time Bobcat scoring list (with John Lazosky). In the last 3 games, Tyler has passed Scott Koelzer (1970-1973), Bill Ogle (1933-1938, which is a interesting series of years), and Nico Harrison (1993-1996).

Re: MBB@ Portland State
Man I was pulling my hair-out, whilst trying to watch on my phone at a family function, as our 11 point lead slowly got whittled away on their 9-0 run when young Harald Frey somehow made them forget he was left handed and drove right around them for the lefty layup. That was beautiful. The resurgence of this team corresponds directly to Frey's improvement.
The second game of the weekend is usually a tough shooting night-we overcame with defense and rebounding. Osyande had 5 baskets all off of offensive rebounds. That's 10 points we wouldn't have had earlier this season.

Plus MSU's women also swept while UM's women got swept, so Cats were a combined 4-0 while Griz were 0-4 this weekend. I wonder if that's ever happened before?MSU01 wrote:Both teams shot only 37% from the floor. MSU was 19% from 3, PSU was 22%. Both teams made 16 free throws though PSU had 9 more attempts.
